2017: Recruiting News, Notes & Official Visitors

Another QB target, Nick Sipe, no offer yet but says he thinks we will "maybe" offer after seeing him throw this past week.

http://www.scout.com/college/footba...star-qb-sipe-eager-to-throw-for-schools?s=148

247Sports says he'll visit on April 29th, not sure whether that's still accurate. They have him rated a near 4-star at 89. Has had rave reviews for his play at camps recently.

Very nice touch on his throws.

According to Maxprep.com, his stats for 2015-2016

2842 yds, 31 TDs, 6 Ints, 175/303 or 58% comp. 16.2 yds/comp.

Obviously didn't throw all that often, but a 5:1 TD:Int ratio is seriously impressive. Will be interesting to watch how things progress for Nick. 3 Star on Scout with an offer from CSU and NAU. Cal, UCLA, USC, CU among those listed as showing interest.

Sipe was a finalist at the Rivals QB Competition in LA. Other finalists were:

1) Jack Sears
2) Hank Bachmeirer
3) Stephen Barber
4) Jack Newman
5) Tua Tagovailoa
6) Dylan Morris
7) Nick Sipe

Pretty good company. Interesting how a kid from LA, performing that well at a camp like that is so under the radar.

Looks like another JuCo player offered, DE Andrew Van Ginkel, who will be playing for Iowa Western CC next season. (Per http://siouxcityjournal.com/sports/...cle_929322c9-a34f-5ee3-ae56-073be59f6421.html , he played and starred at the U. of South Dakota this past season, where he won conference Freshman Player of the year honors, and was 3rd in voting for national FCS division freshman of the year.)

New offer to a '17 WDE/OLB from Houston. K'Lavon Chaisson is going to have offers everywhere by this time next year.

MacIntyre and other coaches were in Houston today, so I assume it came from that. Needless to say, this would be a huge recruiting win. Early offer from LSU, according to 247s.
Now a 4*, highly graded player everywhere. Ranked 52nd in the ESPN 300. Recently followed Leavitt and Leavitt followed back (Leavitt rarely follows people lol). Maybe we can get out for a visit!

Maryland LB, Abner Logan, is transferring (graduate). He tore his ACL last August but was projected as a starter and was projected as a starter after the Spring this year. Hopefully, with some of our connections at Maryland with Wilson and Winfree, the staff can get him to take a visit.

Edit: Was a 4* out of high school

Good find. We also have Edsall on staff as a grad assistant. Almost certainly it was his dad who recruited Logan to Maryland.

If there's a position coach you want to play for your last year to give you the best shot at the NFL, it's JMFL. Throw in Tyrone McKenzie (who is very hands on with the LBs and we don't talk about enough) and I like our chances here.

I'd assume so.

No. 6 Creston Cooledge, Surprise Valley Vista, 6-5, 280, Jr.

Mobile, fast, strong, Cooledge should come into his own this season after a solid sophomore season. The junior class may be as good as any that has come through Arizona. Cooledge is making great strides with his work ethic in the weight room. Arizona, Boise State, Stanford and San Jose State have shown strong interest in this kid whose motor never stops. He prides himself on finishing the play. He also takes pride in the classroom, carrying a 4.0 grade-point average.

OG Wyatt Davis is an absolute blue chip CU has offered.
WR Terrell Bynum is also a great player CU has offered, but he's committed to Washington.
OG Ben Holmes is more of a 3* caliber who I'm sure the Buffs are giving a long look.
