Well, not surprised. Wood looked like he was the better QB at the Spring game and looked to be in the lead for the job. Since he and Hirsch are the same year, it doesn't make much sense to hang around and ride the pine.

Paging Mr. Fishback....

Kid was a competitor and I loved the energy he brought, especially throughout spring ball. Obviously he's also a fairly bright young man to graduate early; certainly wish him nothing but the best.

Re: Hirschman Leaving

Best of luck wherever you go.

wow. not good. We now have only one QB on the roster who has taken a meaningful snap, sort of.

Hirschman Leaving

This is shocking to me. I thought the rumors of his possible departure were a load of unfiltered bull****. Guess I was wrong on that one.

Not surprised at all. Must have had a talk with coach and was told he is not going to be the starter.

Better bring in the jc guy.

I'd prefer to cut the fat from bottom up...not top down. I can understand his decision

Good luck inthe future, nick!

Nick showed a lot of heart, battling through injuries and working hard to compete at QB. Best of luck to him wherever he goes.

He has been one of my favorite players since he arrived. I wish things would have worked out better and he could have led us to some bowl games.

BTW anyone heard from BB2? I'm worried.

Los Gatos forever! Best of luck to Mr. Hirschman.

This news disappoints me. I would love to have him in the stable.

Good luck to Nick. I hope he lands on his feet and finds success.

Personally, I don't really want a juco guy coming in and soaking up a scholarship. I'd like to see C Wood establish himself as the starter and either Sefo or Dillon established as the #2.

Wow surprising way to see us trim our QB roster. 1st J Webb goes down with a season/career ending injury and then NH decides to transfer while supposedly in the heat of the race for #1 on the depth chart.

Agree with others that clearly NH saw the writing on the wall or even more likely, sat down with HCMM and staff to find out where they were at and he heard 1st hand that he was headed for a backup role this season and then would have to battle Wood, Dillon, and Sefo the following year. His odds of playing (if Wood doesn't get hurt-knock on wood) were slim to none.

I wonder if we will ever hear from BB again?

I'd like to see that too, but what makes you think that either Sefo or Dillon is ready to be #2? Sefo is a true freshman and by the sound of things Dillon's a way off from being ready. We may HAVE to go JUCO now.

I remember reading an article where Butch stated that Hirsch was better than Edwards when we signed him. I guess neither really panned out in the end. When did you graduate LGHS Orr?

Is it just me or is this just what happens now ? Don't get the starting job and you leave.
I could be wrong here but I just don't remember this kind of thing happening as much 5-10 years ago.
I wish him luck but something in my gut doesn't like this sort of action.

Three QBs is just not enough when two of them have never taken a snap in a college game. Plus, outside of exceptional circumstances, redshirting a QB is always the sound strategy.

Eugene. But my Mom is from Santa Cruz. It was probably my Grandfather who stole Sacky's wallet.
