Official Colorado State Game Thread

Iirc he wanted to work at FSU and reached out and they said you have to get a degree. So he went and got one. Don’t think they dismissed his hbcu degree
I don't perceive Nik as someone who posts made up stuff -- I'd really like to see the information that provided the background for his post

He posted a pic of a girl in a chambray long sleeve button up, then went on to imply she was going to play tennis, of which he was summarily called out for posting fake news.

Was curious so I took a look at Ramnation and saw some funny stuff. In addition to bitching about the officiating, one thing they are going on about is that the huge ratings for the game weren't all about CU and CP. They actually think Gameday may come to Ft Collins for one of their upcoming games.

Holy sh*t. This is like when they voted Carrie prom queen.

Post 1973 has the source. I even pulled the quote out and put it in the post.
I'm confused. "he doesn't have a degree" is a completely different statement than "he doesn't have a real college degree"

the context is paywall blocked.

am I to assume that the comment you quoted was made after Sanders finished his degree and, further, was made with the knowledge that he did in fact have a four year degree from an accredited school? does the paywalled article you linked make those points explicit?

edit: it looks like the Athletic article was written in 2019. Sanders completed his degree in 2020 (per wiki). so, the statement quoted in the Athletic was factually true at the time and appears to have no relevance to Nik's comment. please correct me if I'm missing something.

So glad we got to the bottom of that

People, we’re playing our first top 20 matchup in god knows how long this Saturday and you’re still keeping this thread for a game against an opponent no one says s/he cares about alive on Thursday after the game?
mods can move it to a different thread if they see fit, but I find the topic of great interest whether or not our head coach's (playing career) alma mater (i.e. school that many believe is the most likely to poach him) truly severed ties with him.

I doubt I'm the only AB member to find that interesting

I don't feel the same. I'd like to see a source for the "no real degree" quote. it's actually starting to feel like that was fake news
It's straight out of the article and this was during the time he interviewed for the Florida State Job.

Here's some more from the article:

But as then-Florida State athletic director David Coburn searched for a coach, Sanders pushed for consideration. Eventually, he landed an interview. Andrews, who still lives in Tallahassee, spoke with Coburn about how it went.

“Mickey, that was the most impressive presentation of all the coaches we talked to,” Andrews recalled Coburn telling him. “It’s just that he doesn’t have his degree, he’s never been a head coach. A lot of people would agree that he would be great for the job, but he doesn’t have the primary things you’ve gotta have. I just don’t think I could sell it to all our alumni.”

Noted above, that article appears to have been written literally before Sanders got his degree.

That's not equivalent to saying the degree he did earn a year later wasn't real.

Most relevant, nothing in that article (that I've seen) suggests a damaged relationship between Sanders and FSU.

FSU told him he couldn’t coach there without a degree. The easy thing for him to do would be to get his degree from FSU. But he didn’t do that. Could be that FSU told him that they wouldn’t let him do that. Could be that he got pissed and got his degree elsewhere. I don’t think it’s a huge leap of logic to suspect his relationship with FSU is strained if not fractured.

Isn't there a coach prime thread for this stuff?
This thread is exclusively for heartache and anger about the bull**** hit on Travis.

That's a reasonable take, but it's a huge fukking leap of logic from that to saying FSU severed ties with Sanders by saying he didn't have a real degree. How do you make that jump?
