Honestly, I can't answer if you actually believe your first sentence is true.
This response is either a cop out or you are missing my point. I am in no way stating that we have a top-notch recruiting class that will propel us to the top of the Pac-12, I was asking you a valid and direct question. If you, and others, believe that this staff is dropping the ball during this recruiting cycle, then please provide a list of elite level recruits that CU has a legitimate shot at. If, as you say, we need to hire a big time recruiter I would like some insight as to what this hired gun would offer recruits to lure them in to our program, and why it would be such a drastic difference from our current recruiters. Basically, I am just asking that those who are being critical of this staff's recruiting ability provide some backbone to their arguments.
My opinion is that those who are bashing this recruiting class are just misplacing their angst about the current state of Buffs football. Does it suck that 4* and 5* athletes pass us by, only to sign with other schools in our conference, of course. But such is the way when you have been as god-awful as our Buffs have been for the better part of a decade. As Buffnik pointed out, we need to gain some traction and start moving forward before we can set out sights on elite level recruits, much the way our basketball program has done. As success comes, expectations change, the same can be said for failure. The pendulum swings both ways.
So, to reiterate, will our class be ranked toward the bottom of the conference? - Certainly
Will we get some athletes that will help us crawl out of the hole we are in?- I have faith based on this staff's history (Gillam, Awuzie).
Could we have done much better this cycle?- Unfortunately, I don't believe so.
