For one thread, would it be possible to discuss some serious coaching candidates for the CU head coaching position that many people anticipate will open at the conclusion of the season? Here are a few I can think of, off the top of my head.
Turner Gill
Former Husker player, long time Nebraska assistant coach
Currently Coaching at Buffalo
15-23 record as Buffalo Head Coach
Won Mid-American Athletic Conference Championship in 2008
Might be worth watching this season
Ken Niumatalolo
Former Hawaii football player, long time Navy assistant coach
Currently Navy head coach
8-6 record as Navy head coach
Has good ties to a key recruiting area
Long time tenure at Navy might be good preparation for rigors associated with coaching at Colorado
Recruiting ability is questionable
Ability to sustain long term success questionable
Paul Johnson
Currently Georgia Tech head coach
Previously Navy head coach
45-29 at Navy
9-4 in 1st season at Georgia Tech
Offense is something Buff fans would love to see
Probably a costly coach to consider
ACC much easier conference than Big 12
Greg Schiano
Currently Rutgers head coach
46-51 record at Rutgers
Has taken Rutgers to 4 straight bowl games
Probably a costly coach to consider
Big East much easier than Big 12
Bill Young
Currently Oklahoma State Defensive Coordinator
Has previously worked as DC at Oklahoma, Kansas, Miami
Defenses win championships
Affordable
Familiar with Big 12 conference
Eric Bienemy
Currently Minnesota Vikings RB coach
Has previously worked as RB coach at CU, as well as UCLA
Recruiting whiz
Energetic / motivated
No head coaching or coordinator experience
Affordable
Popular with boosters / alums
Familiar with CU / Conference
Jon Embree
Currently Kansas City Chiefs TE coach
Has previously worked as TE / DE coach at CU, as well as UCLA
No head coaching or coordinator experience
Affordable
Popular with boosters / alums
Familiar with CU / Conference
