Well, Utah is starting to fill Nebraska's role quite nicely

never liked Boise State (okay I cheered for them versus Oklahoma) or Hawaii and never got into TCU, so Utah was a good underdog to cheer for.

I remember when the BCS announcement show was on that year. At first it showed Michigan vs Utah on the board but that quickly disappeared. Playing Pitt was a major disappointment. Didn't do much more for me than beating Air Force. Actually Air Force played us much tougher than Pitt that year. If I recall they led 14-0 at RES that year before we woke up.
 
A HUGE reason that I don't see Utah becoming as hated as the Nubs is that they aren't all over the place here in Colorado. Those border jumpers are everywhere, while I think most Utah folks like where they live.
 
No way Utah becomes our rival. I don't see them having the success again that they had under Meyer and don't think the games with them will have much national implications like CU v NU did in the 90's.
 
I just realized that I don't know anyone that went to UU. I know a few BYU grads (well maybe they are utah grads that just say they went to BYU)

That in itself will keep it from being a rivalry to me.
 
there fans where throwing stuff at our players. and tony clemons had a hilarious facebook rant about talking **** to one of their fans

I think this is a very important point. One of the big reasons I have always hated nebraska so much is because they have so many transplants here, stinking up the place and asking annoying questions like "why do you hate Nebraska?"

I don't think I'll ever truly hate Utah. I might want to really beat them, but hate is reserved for jackasses like the nubs.
 
I don't see Utah being a rival, ever. They're geographically close to Colorado, but other than that...nothing.

However, that begs the question: in the Pac 12 which team becomes CU's biggest rival?

Look I know everyone wants to shoot for USC, but we are not their rival. They steam-rolled us this year and did the last two times they played us as well. I'm pretty sure they don't get all pumped up to play us. I don't think Utah is their rival yet, but I think there is some promise. We scored a direct hit on Friday and it won't go un-noticed. That kind of thing happens several times and it is bound to turn into a rivalry.

Yup. Utah may never be our rival, but neither will UCLA or USC. There's simply never going to be a point in time where the Bruin or Trojan fanbases are getting fired up about the "rival Buffaloes" coming to town. It's fine if we want to put a target on USC, but the notion that any sort of "rivalry" is more likely to develop with USC than it is with Utah is preposterous.
 
Yeah and Neb wasn't a rival until Mac put their name in red on the schedule. Not implying $C should be our new rival, but they are definitely who we should be gunning for.

that is a good point. We don't have a rival right now and it can be anyone we want. If we start to beat USC on a regular basic, we are going to be rivals with them. I don't think Oregon was rivals with USC 15 years ago, but they sure as hell are right now.

any shot at the conference title is going to run through usc. they are off probation this next year and they already look like the best team in the conference to me.

if we are going to aim, let's aim high.

Once we start winning consistently the rivalries will form. It only took one win for Utard to hate us.
