This weekend he is scheduled to be in Memphis (1/13), next weekend he has a visit set-up with Texas (1/20) and to cap things off he will visit Colorado (1/27).

If we can get through the Texas visit, it's game on. ASU and Baylor are also sniffing around, though.

Excuse me for my ignorance but CU is not listed as an offer, does he have an offer from CU?

Not as far as we know. Our best guess is that if we get to the 27th, we still have an opening, and he's still uncommitted, that he'll visit and we'll have an offer waiting.

Thank you, that makes sense. I know several recruits that received offers during home visits the last couple weeks so it's finally coming together. Thanks for your patience and explanation!

Don't mention it.

The final pieces of a class are alway confusing. I'm still trying to figure out how UCLA has over 20 guys committed, seems to want more, and they only had 14 slots for this class before recently booting 3 guys off the team. I may not have been a math major, but I can count to 85. :smile2:

I do not want to detract from Mr. Hobbs profile so would you be so kind to share with me how to start a new thread?

It's cool. The Hobbs thread needed a little attention anyway. I think it's hard for people to get excited until we know how Cope-Fitzpatrick's visit goes this weekend (along with his follow-up at USC on the 20th) and we find out if Hobbs commits to Texas next weekend.

On posting... Easy enough. Just go to the main page of the forum you want to post in where all the threads are listed.

There's a black box near the top left corner that says "Post New Thread". Click that. That will open up a new screen. Type in your title, type in your text, then click the black box on the bottom right that says "Submit New Thread".

Rivals is now showing a CU offer and 247sports has rated Hobbs as a 3* prospect (#31 TE).

Also, multiple confirmations that he is visiting CU on the 27th. This one comes down to whether UT offers this weekend.

I wonder if the offer to Hobbs shows a lack of confidence in a JCF signing. I knew we had a small chance anyway, so no shocker. I kind of like what I'm seeing from Hobbs.

I like what I'm seeing too.

JCF is a blue chip prospect, so he's got to be the Plan A. But Hobbs is an excellent prospect who could end up being a great TE. He's a WR who grew out of the position and has the build that makes me think he can be an impact blocker eventually.

There's a chance that UT only offers a walk on opportunity and that we'll be in great shape here.

TE recruits should take note at how hard Embree is going after TE's. Seems like a hint that TE's are a big part of his plan. Did I say big? Pshaw! Huge! Ginormous!!

Not kidding though. Embree is focusing on TE's, it appears.

247sports showing that Kennedy is in Texas tonight taking in Hobbs' basketball game. BK on the road doing some work for us.

Good. This is really the first I've heard of Kennedy since he landed the 3 WR's

Video isn't real impressive. He's ok, not great. In terms of athletic ability, he isn't a smooth athlete. Lacks separation speed. Very choppy moving around the field. Actually reminds me of a thicker D. Thorton. Not necessarily a good thing.

So a lot like you?

Do not disagree. There is not the explosiveness that leaps off the film from other tight ends we have recruited this cycle. Part of me thinks he could be a solid player at 235 (if he is that big or can hold that weight). Thornton is listed at 225 and I do not buy it.

Mentions that he may cancel his visit this weekend and I just checked his Rivals page and he's no longer listed as a visitor. Not sure why anyone would rather go to Memphis then CU and even if that is his preference there's no harm in checking out Boulder to ensure an informed decision is being made. He'll know if Texas is offering by mid-week.

Hmmmm.... the coaches came thru last night and were going to visit Mr. Hobbs right after. Wonder if something happened.

This news combined with the simultaneous news of Stevens committing to UTSA is interesting.

Still unsure about this one. I guess he could develop into a solid TE in time, but it seems we could hold off until next year's class and not be that much worse off.
