'12 NJ CB Yuri Wright (Signed to Colorado)

You don't see red flags? You should. I'll bet Embree does as well.

Yes. This is completely Jon's decision at this point. He must decide that if Yuri is coming to Boulder, what impact will it have on the environment he is trying to establish. A 4 star recruit is not worth sabotaging his mission.

Keep recruiting him, but I'd also like to see us have relaxed admission requirements for athletes.

High school recruits aren't really an issue. What kills us is getting JUCO transfers into CU. No PE and fewer majors than some of our competitors makes it so that a lot of times all of the credits simply can't transfer. Hopefully the growth of the university and the tighter NCAA regs on JUCOs are going to help us there.

No I really don't. He didn't do anything any different than any other kid, the whole situation is being blown out of proportion and he wouldn't have been expelled had this been at a public HS. I see a hell of a lot more positives about signing this kid than negatives. And it looks like Embree agrees with me as we are continuing our recruitment of Yuri.

Do you really see anything here that is more risky than with other kids? He has never been in trouble at all. While he has had trouble deciding where he wants to go this getting kind of a deva rep, he seems to be a pretty decent kid caught up in a lot of overblown BS. I feel for the kid and would love nothing more than to see him have a great college career.
Yes. I do. There is still a stigma out there from the crap that happened. Yuri's tweet story has gone viral. This is not a dynamic you see with almost any other kid. The public/media only knows what they see. If were coach, I'd make sure he is aware and contrite if I were to give a second chance. It wouldn't be whether I had his back. It would be, "Does he have mine?"

Good point. I'm sure, as you've posted previously, that trusting the coaches is the way to go. They'll take his temp, and if it's good, they'll take him. Maybe they're not sure, we take him, and he's a PIA, he'll adjust, or he'll go away. Embree isn't going to put up with any shenanigans. I keep channeling Col. Jessup on this one. I feel we have an obligation to train this young man.

I agree with that, but I still don't see what he did as that big of a deal and I could care less what is said about him or us if we go after him.

You can't handle the truth.

It wouldn't be a big deal if he were not a four star recruit being recruited by Missagain and, therefor, had not made the national media and if we were not in Boulder.

Still don't think it's a big deal, and like others have said, this story will blow over. Come to Boulder Yuri!

I'm not as picky about the race of the women I would like to have sex with, or as public in my announced desires, but I sure would like to see Yuri play football for the Buffs.

@YuriWright Yuri Wright

@ilovenotredame: @YuriWright is it btw nd and Rutgers?” cu ND and RU

Thought ND backed away too, no?

Nope. I don't know of anyone who backed off. I actually heard the opposite. When rumors surfaced that other programs were backing off, several new programs jumped in to see if there might be an opportunity to land Yuri.

I'm of the opinion that the Michigan blogger was defaming Yuri out of sour grapes that Michigan wasn't going to land him and spinning the situation as "Yuri wasn't good enough to be a Michigan man". The tragedy is that that piece of blog garbage ended up getting a ton of attention and caused Yuri to be expelled from his high school. Michigan has made my list.

I think the coaches know how to handle the kids. Yuri has done a lot less than others who have come to CU in the past and if they bring him in we would be fortunate to have him. We would be lucky to have him and I hope he picks CU.

amidst all of these chat about what yuri did, have anyone seen these on scout.com? they're just about a month old, but idk:

...
Wright has said UM is his dream school all along and had a bad visit to Colorado...
posted by user trepps

Also, Wright complained about CU being a ghost town during his visit (holiday break)

i mean obviously visiting CU during the break, ofc it'll be a ghost town. i mean what town wouldn't be, right? if we have the chance to get him to commit then i'll support Embo and his staff and the CU team. if we don't, then we'll just make due with what we have and recruit better next year.

i apologize if this was quoted or stated in an earlier post.

Welcome aboard, isamudysan.

I don't think anyone had posted the Michigan stuff from Scout, so thanks. We had talked a bit about him being bored on his trip, but he'd been here before for last year's spring game so it's not like Yuri didn't know what it's normally like in Boulder.

Embree shouldn't host visits on finals weekend. They don't work.

At this point, I expect Yuri to react to the situation by committing somewhere that's been with him the longest. That's Rutgers or CU.

Biggest concern I have is over him qualifying. His family lives in NY. Don Bosco Prep is in NJ. I don't know that someone can switch to a different state and satisfy graduation requirements for that system in only a semester. (Donmac on Rivals said the situation is a mess today.)

Got that feeling too.

I know this is opening a can of worms but given we just got KC I wonder if we back off Wright now. Given the concerns about his character and now that we have a 4* CB coming in, and we have only a few spaces left, maybe we move on?
