promoted QB Davis Webb Transferring to COLORADO from TTU (Committed to COLORADO)

I think someone was going for a reach-around.

Not sure where to put this so, rather than another thread, I'll put it here since it relates. The NCAA is considering changes to the grad transfer rule. Apparently 2/3rds of grad transfers never earn a graduate degree. The NCAA wants to change that. Changes would happen down the road and will not effect Webb's transfer.

I had thought about this before. I'm surprised that many of the players graduate. Also how so many kids can find a "graduate program their current school doesn't offer" amazes me. It also seems to only benefit the programs as the top. Which FSU, Alabama, Oregon and the likes getting the impact grad transfers. With Webb we are finally benefitting from the rule so I won't complain too much Haha. I think you were looking for this link though

I'm all for any rules that gives the kids more choice. Leave the grad transfer rule alone. We already handcuff these kids. A coach can leave whenever he wants and work again right away...

The grad transfer rule is fine. Leave it alone, IMO.

I think they should broaden it. You should be able to transfer anywhere after you graduate. Why should the student who actually wants to pursue a graduate degree be stuck at his undergraduate institution just because it offers the program he wants to pursue? It makes no sense. New Mexico has a law school, should a guy who gets the chance to go to Stanford law school have to stay at UNM? Ridiculous.

Thanks. I've been having "cut and paste" issues, haha. I fixed it I think.

Not only that, the ability to transfer if you graduate early is a good incentive for kids to focus on academics.

100% agree. If the rule is in place to stop kids from jumping around for sports reasons vs. academic reasons why the hell shouldn't they be able to move on after getting their degree? If you graduate from a school and have eligibility left you should be able to pursue another undergraduate degree at another school, or take ballroom dancing or underwater basket weaving for a year. Once you've got a degree and 1-2 years left of eligibility, why not allow them to transfer anywhere for any reason?

The WBB team was seriously hurt, maybe even mortally wounded, this year by the grad transfer rule with Arielle Roberson leaving for West Virginia so I'm really glad to see that a Buffs team looks to finally be getting a nice positive boost by that same rule.

It's also extremely two faced for universities to restrict athletes' abilities to pursue other graduate schools when they highly encourage their own under graduates to look elsewhere.

Yeah. I'm all for an athlete being able to finish his athletic eligibility anywhere he want if he has already obtained a degree from the university he signed with.

I'd actually be in favor of tightening undergrad transfer rules on the other side of things now that colleges are granting 4-year scholarships instead of year-to-year scholarships.

Well that sucks. Hopefully it's just for a free trip to the Bay Area and reassure himself he made the right choice or the world is ending.

This does not jibe with the "signed" part of the thread title. What gives?

Financial aid agreements are not binding until he actually enrolls. He has signed his FAA, but could theoretically change his decision.

Look nancies, chev said he gave him his word, like anything could go wrong. Fairh and not the george michael type....
