Spring Game on March 18th

Montez to Fields flawless TD pass right down the middle. 25-30 yards. A thing of beauty.

Montez is talented, but he still has work to do to be consistent in the pocket.

Kaiser looks good at LT.

Lytle to Huntley TD at the front corner pylon.

Passing game stands out from this spring game.

QB Marksbury's turn to run the offense. And he gets a TD after completing passes to Frazier, Watson and finally Coleman.

Edwards and Mulumba look the part. Hard to tell too much else on either side of the line.

WR group looks very good, so do the corners.

Still not seeing Bisharat as a P5 RB.

I don't like recruiting players that are overweight. But Edwards is talented, just need work hard to get down to playing weight which is about 330 pounds not 345 pounds.

Wrap-up thoughts:
Passing game stands out as strength. Multiple targets and multiple throwers can get the job done. Interesting that P12N announcer put Coach Chev's name on the list as a potential future head coaches. His position group works hard, plays hard, pays attention to details, blocks and scores. Bobo, Ento, Fields all look the part of being ready. A few TE passes, too. Looks like more passing TDs inside the red zone this year, and maybe fewer QB runs up the middle.

Shay Field gives a nice interview to P12 sideline looker Cameon Irwin, who is practically begging him to dance. Fields is a star and does a nice job signing autographs and charming the youngest Buffs fans. He's a good face of the program.

Running game - not much to highlight. Lindsey didn't get reps. Atkins and Bisharat looked interchangeable. Limiting running plays and contact by design to minimize more injuries. This is a question mark.

QB - Montez can be sharp, but also inconsistent. Lytle edges Noyer for second string based on today's outing, but both have flashes.

Special Teams - Not really comfortable with PAT and FG accuracy. Neither Graham nor Price were automatic. Far from it, actually. Hope our Australian old man can up improve this piece of the game.

Defense - Javier Edwards is impossible to miss. If he stays healthy and gets accustomed to up-tempo at elevation, he'll do some damage. Nick Fisher had the best defensive play of the game with a pick. Julmisse getting schooled by Buffs WR's. Let's see if the daily competition against a really good WR corps elevates his game against other P12 teams. Not much else jumped out at corner or LB. I was hoping Oliver & Laguda would shine.

Biggest disappointment is not seeing a real scrimmage. The showcase of situational drills was fun mostly because practice has been closed. But this wasn't a substitute for a true game. Still lots of questions on how this defense might stack up against the rest of the league.
