Official 2017 Coaching Carousel Thread - Zona hires Sumlin

May have been mentioned elsewhere, but an interesting side note to this basketball scandal is with Jurich being fired Petrino's buyout is cut in half from 8.5 mil to 4.25 mil.

He'd be scary good at ASU if they could afford it (Graham's buyout + Petrino's buyout + Petrino's salary). Used to be QB Coach there. Have to think he'd be #1 on their wish list.

This would not make me happy, because you're right, he'd be scary good.

But then I think of the type of "talent" that they have at ASU, and given that there's no way in the world Petrino could help himself, I realize how spectacular the scandal would be.

His star would burn very bright at ASU. And short.

Now that I've thought about it, I sort of want to see it.

If the FBI and the DOJ carry this this out to it's potential end I don't think we will see Petrino as well as a number of other coaches anytime soon. Not many colleges are going to entertain hiring somebody who is on probation after taking a plea to stay out of jail.

Petrino /= Pitino...

I think you might be getting Louisville coaches confused, at least one of them (so far) is not known to be the subject of an FBI investigation.

Maybe flashcards would help.

Petrino will leave at the end of this year.....but he's going to Tennessee I think.

I agree that Petrino will leave but I think Tennessee will try to hire Kelly or Stoops first. And of course there could be some other big SEC programs looking for new coaches too - Auburn, A&M, LSU and Florida are schools that could potentially have openings.

I believe that Tennessee likes to be turned down by Jon Gruden before turning to other candidates. ;)

Yeah I would agree there but I don't think they're getting either one. Stoops seems like he's more interested in joining the CFP committee than anything, and I doubt Kelly takes an SEC job honestly.....

Orgeron will make $3.5 million per year as part of a five-year contract. His Year 1 buyout is $12 million.
Former coach Les Miles, fired Sept. 25, 2016, made $4.3 million per year, and the school owes him a buyout of more than $9 million — paid in monthly installments over six years. The program saved $800,000 with Orgeron's salary, funds the school used on coordinators Dave Aranda and Matt Canada. The duo is set to make a combined $3.3 million this year, believed to be more than any other coordinator duo in college football.

Fedora and jimbo are no where near the hot seat.

Jimbo Fisher would be hired in a nano second, if FSU were ever that stupid. Would be the dumbest firing in history of sports.
