Officially off the Macintyre bandwagon

Meh. I’m all in for one more year. I mean, what other options are there? I suppose I can bitch and moan about Mac and his staff and I probably will here and there. But, in the end, I love the Buffs. So I don’t see that I have much choice but to get back in the saddle and ride this pony one more time. Giddy up!!

Bye. And Mayfield is a douche bag. Johnny Football 2.0

**** off.

Bye... really? I was seated in Folsom dating back to the Bill Mallory days. I went to the first CU-ND Orange Bowl and listened to the second one on my first day in Desert Storm on armed forces radio. I've seen the good and the bad and the only tie I have to your university is the fact that my parents adopted CU as their team in the mid 70's. CU athletics has been a part of my life, as ridiculous as that is, ever since. Hell, I even traveled to Jax for the FSU game, took my family to Morgantown and Columbus for those games. I think I have my CU fan stripes.

But, yes, I am also a fan of my university. I'm sure that is okay. Mayfield may not be the best sportsman and his NFL ability is yet to be seen, but if he were in a CU uniform we wouldn't be 5-7 and you would love him.

There is no shortage of wanking around here about CU football, and I am one of the last to that table. How about welcoming some of your constantly bitching and whining fellow alums (I assume you graduated) to walk away.

I’m with you...born an Okie myself and if it wasn’t for my Dad taking me to CU home games in 1990, I’d still be just an OU fan. Given that I am done with the NFL, OU will take the place of the Broncos and I haven’t really rooted for the Sooners quite like 2000.

Like you, it’s awfully tempting to put OU over the Buffs too...I just can’t get myself to do it at this point. If the Buffs were getting blown out this season like 2011-2015, I’d probably be done too. Next season has a favorable schedule so I’m going with CU but if I’m not seeing improvement, I might just pull the plug on the Buffs early in the season.

Will put on my OU visor this week for sure. Only question I have for OU next season is QB. Will former Texas A&M QB Murray be the guy?
I remember taking my roommate back to an OU-CU game back in Folsom... I just couldn't wear my OU jacket past the 1st quarter... didn't feel right. Ironically, one of my roommates was from Oklahoma and a huge Texas fan. His father was a UT grad.

Wasn't Erickson national coach of the year at Oregon State the year he won 11 games? They didn't make a bowl the following season.

I haven’t read the whole forum, so sorry if this has already been discussed. But seriously, is Les Miles a real possibility?

Also what about the former A&M coach?

Nobody else finds this insane? You pick who you're a fan of week to week based on their performance?

If MacIntyre got the Ole Miss job or something, CU would have a good shot at Miles. Sumlin is highly doubtful. Word is that his wife didn't care for Boulder and prefers it more in the south, so I think that would be hard since they're not exactly hurting for money and he has some options.

It’s okay, man. It’s okay.

2016 isn't a season that gets replicated. It was a unicorn.

You go crazy enjoying a season like that if you're lucky enough to have it happen and then you cherish it forever.

As a program, it's vital that you use a season like that to raise yourself a talent level so that winning in the future doesn't take a unicorn season. My main frustration right now is that I don't believe the program capitalized as well as it should have.

I wouldn't trade it but that 10 win season may have done our program more harm than good.

We haven't turned it into a recruiting boost. It may have also given a false sense of success. It seems as if many in the program assumed after last season that we had made it, that wins would just come to us, that we were now automatically competitive.

Last season came because we were better than before but also even more importantly because the entire team, especially the players had an intense desire to succeed and to succeed as a team.

This year outside of a few individuals we have lacked that intensity, that spirit, that drive.

Why am I included?I was mocking him.

I reject your assertion, sir!!

I've been a season ticket holder since 2005. I've witnessed a total of two winning seasons in that time span and zero bowl wins. Those two winning seasons ended in utterly embarrassing blow outs in the conference championship games. Might as well stick it out for one more season.

I've got no where else to go anyway.

You got my curiosity so I looked it up. The tweet referred to AP coach of the year, which was Stoops in 2000 when Erickson & OSU completes a remarkable turnaround and won 11 games. Erickson was voted Coach if the Year by Sporting Nees. The following year expectations were high but the Beavs wound up 5-6.

So great recollection and a very close comparison to MM’s outcome.

Funny I knew someone in college that claimed he was an OU fan then Texas won the 2005 National Championship and he wore UT gear. Don't know if he lost a bet.

You saying that I should have stuck with OU? Like OUBuff and myself, it would be too easy plus I have spent more of my life here in Colorado than Oklahoma or Texas. Plus OU is playing for a conference championship. If CU was playing that weekend, it would be CU gear on my chest and head. I still hate Nebraska for beating OU the first time I watched that rivalry back in 1988. The following year, I see CU beat Nebraska and then the year after that, my father took me to all home games. Don't know if he regrets it...LOL.

See what Oregon's D did to AZ? Held Tate to 2.3 yoc...and with Herbert back they rocked them. Leavitt has turned that D around in one year....while we have dumb and dumber trying to right our ship defensively. Oh well.

Do you and Hawg still have that boner for Jim Leavitt after today?

Well, that game pretty much kills any chance Leavitt might have had of being named OU head coach, so he's gone. I hope stealing him from us was worth one mediocre season and your stud head coach abandoning you, Oregon. OU prob woulda had a losing record without Leavitt this year and no way in hell FSU would have hired a guy with a losing record as their new head coach. This makes me happy. I might become a part time FSU fan because of Taggart screwing over Oregon

Is this ****ing guy serious? Wtf.

I thought it was shocking to see Leavitt, who was known to be leaving, undermining Cristobal's authority by taking it upon himself as DC to coach up the quarterback on the sideline. Obviously trying to project that he was playing the part of HC even if it wasn't his job. (If Herbert had rallied at that point, JL would have been able to take the credit.) Based on that, I have to assume that JL's presence caused some divisions in the locker room leading up to that game, too.

You know where he'd be great? DC at Arizona State where Herm wants to delegate everything and JL would basically be HC for Defense. Hire another similar personality like Stitt for OC at ASU and they'd be rolling. (As long as Leavitt and Stitt could manage to stay out of the other's business.)

Stitt would not want Leavitt coaching up his QBs or interjecting in his offensive meetings. Leavitt is always going to have these clashes with other coaches, short of being under a true Alpha HC like Saban or Meyer, or officially becoming a HC himself.
