TN VOLS fans coming to UCLA/Colorado game

I wiped out hard on an alpine slide at Raccoon Mountain outside of Chattanooga as a kid. I was going too fast around a curve and flew off the slide and sliced my knee up pretty bad.

@UTVols so I know you have complained about the lack of football or tailgating discussion in this thread. Did you have any particular questions?
 
Ya know, as someone who has been to many Air Force and Wyoming games I gotta say Wyoming is more fun to attend. Air Force games have no crowd involvement other than cheers from the cadets on big plays. Other than that it feels like the fans are asleep. Wyoming fans will stick around and still cheer even when their team is down by 30.

Yes, I realize there is nothing going on within 80 miles of Laramie to go do instead.

But there's also something to the experience factor of walking the campus of an Academy and seeing a football game there.

I saw a game at West Point once and even though I can't remember who they played or if they won, it was one of the college football game days I most liked on a campus.

I do something similar as the OP and go somewhere every year. This year it will be Syracuse so that I can tack on a trip to Niagara Falls the next day. West Point is definitely on my top 5 list to get to.

With the number of AFA games I have been to I know that the fun and enjoyment of the atmosphere seem to stop after the flyover. I've been to many games where the visiting fans are into it more even when they are losing.

Game at WP is good, not great. Not as good as AFA in my opinion. You will enjoy.
 
i hate the trojans with the intensity of a thousand burning suns. if you vol fans show up, remember who NOT to root for. i have issues.

and i once had a bartender accidentally serve me a tennessee whiskey instead of the kentucky bourbon i requested. i spat the charcoal infused jet fuel involuntarily onto the toothless girlfriend of a 400 pound fusker clad in polyester. he swung a pool cue at my head. i ducked and he hit a gas lamp that the bartender had placed on the bar for ambiance. the flames from the lamp shot up the pool cue and ignited the red polyester of the fusker. that, combined with hundreds of pound of pure fat, and he went up like a molotov. the tavern emptied as the toothless fusker girlfriend used a fire extinguisher to put out the fusker.

also, in 1990, i was at the tennessee-Colorado game in orange county, california. it was a horribly officiated game and the Buffs kept shooting themselves in the foot. at the end, johnny majors had the chance to go for the win with time expiring. instead, he deceitfully and immorally went for the tie since the Buffs were higher ranked and were considered a national championship contender that year. i may have had a few cocktails as this all unfolded. i was behind the ut bench and i was screaming at majors that he was a coward and a loser and how could he not believe in his team like that? game ends, 31-31. i am in a sea of orange angry fans who think they "won" because of the tie. i puked on the first one who acted threateningly. the crowd parted and i fled to find a dark quiet place to get blackout drunk. luckily, we still won the national championship that year or i would still hate all things tennessee.

My man! That's so true! Last year Oregon was here and we got our asses smacked to left and to the right. But we UW students solved the problem with beer and finished the game.

P.S. I dont remember anything after the 2nd quarter, that's when we were down by like 3 touchdowns lol

My brother worked on Gameday for a couple of years and traveled to all sorts of amazing stadiums/gameday experiences (Iron bowl, Michigan State blocked punt against Michigan, playoffs and national championships). He said nothing compares to the Army Navy game. Far and away the coolest football experience. I'm dying to go to one. Although... GO NAVY!!!

Either way, would be pretty damn cool. Wish my dad would've got to see one of them.
