Defense played well, offense is High School

We kept it within reach which was a good thing. UW isn't the team they have been last few years and were ripe for the taking. Unfortunately, our high school offense doesn't cut it against quality opponents. I was impressed with how defense hung in there. Stupid penalty late, but still they played well enough for us to win. Why we can't find a punter or kicker being we are CU, is beyond me. I know that crap punt didn't hurt us, but it should have. Again, credit to defense there.

The offense is just too high school. Montez is unable to read a defense and adjust. Thus first read isn't there, it's a done deal 90% of time. Maybe that is because our other positions like OL force Chev's hand. I don't know but this offense is absolutely putrid against decent opponents. I feel like I'm watching Friday Night Lights.

Thoughts?

It wasn't about punter and kicker anyways, just that one terrible punt in that situation was ridiculous is all.

Yep, the offense will look great next week vs osu but last two weeks awful.

The OL is weak, chev calling to many behind the Los pass plays.

No catches for ento or jackson this game, brown had 2 catches for minus 3 yards.

I had USC and UW as losses, but very disappointed in the offense and playcalling last 2 weeks.

Defense was okay, DL still gets pushed around and give up too many 3rd and longs. Missed tackles hurt today.

This was a winnable game, this team can win the last 5, two toughest at home but the offense has got to stop playing like ****.

I don't think Jackson even played today. I could be wrong.

Good point. The behind the LOS plays are starting to drive me crazy. It works when you have better team speed, but honestly, teams that match up with us and/or are better it doesn't work 95% of time.

It's frustrating as it was winnable

So offense is disappointing against two quality talent teams? Exaclty what I'm saying. We are way better than we used to be, but now we need to take that step....

Sure but neither are dominate and today was winnable. Sooner or later MM and this program have to beat USC and Washington.
I agree. I think both of those schools are in our heads. They are the measuring stick for us and we could have won the game today had we made a few more plays. But we didn’t.

To keep it in perspective, UW is one of the best defenses in the nation and this was a road game.

I was much more upset about the offense last week at USC.
I was upset about the offense last week for sure, but they hadn’t been stopped to that point, so there there was no reason to believe SC would do so effectively. After last week’s reality check, I expected them to be better in terms of willingness to go down field and open things up, and outside of a few plays, I felt it was more of the same.

I will say, there was an obvious goal of running and burning clock to keep things close. It was a conservative strategy that actually worked quite well, but really makes it so you have very little room for error and HAVE to capitalize when you are handed gifts. CU offense didn’t capitalize on anything today.

I think it was about avoiding the 3 & outs from last week and trying to get the offense into a rhythm. A big part of that was being able to get 2-4 yards on 1st down to keep 2nd & 3rd manageable. We couldn't do that, particularly in the 2nd half once UW was back to full strength on the DL. If you can't do that, I don't think CU has much of a chance against that UW secondary when our best 2 WRs are injured along with our best outlet/slot receiver.

It would sure be nice to get either one of them at home when our team is built to beat them. Buffs would beat both these teams in Boulder this year and in 2016.

Exactly. We are much better now as usual, I want more and am greedy to take next step.
How about Purdue last night? Wow, that was great. I bet Brohm will be at major program in next few years. He might be the real deal!!

Once again, offense was issue. I get injuries etc. but 86 yds in entire 2nd half? This is on offense period. And we aren't delusional, the game was there for the taking. We didn't take advantage of the opportunity is all we are saying. Frustrated....
