Official Coaching Search Thread

Yeah, this doesn't seem coincidental. That was JL's first tweet in a week and every Oregon reply is begging him to stay.

Maybe just because his name has been mentioned for every opening out there but this does have me concerned.

Didn't Leavitt interview at Texas Tech?

RG has been playing this extremely close to the vest. I like checking Football Scoop, but it's been clear from the beginning that they don't have any inside scoop on our coaching search. I think all they have is agents feeding them stuff. JL's agent is in overdrive trying to make his guy look in demand. I (still) trust in RG.

Yep. As long as Leavitt and Mason are continually mentioned, I know they are getting false trails.

It's a beautiful Day to be in Colorado ...

JL would not be a home run like Day. But I think he’d be at the worst only a marginal upgrade over MM. I like JLs youthful enthusiasm for an old man and I think he'd have more upside. Two big questions seem to remain for a lot folks here; can he identify and attract top assistants? Can he recruit better then his not so great track record? Having Florida as his territory or the SEC footprint is probably a tough nutt to win in compared to geographically much closer Cali or Texas. We've never gotten many kids out of Florida. So I’m hopeful distance was the issue.

As for Chiv I can’t see him surviving as sole OC but I could see him remaining as WR coach. He’s probably gone.

If it's Leavitt, why would this be dragging out past Championship weekend Football Scoop?
I don’t believe them but I think they said Bc they are waiting to interview Tucker after the SEC championship game. Then they’d decide after that.

As long as it’s not JL I don’t care who we get

This has been like the emotional rollercoaster of a game, but dragged out over 2 weeks. I'm not sure my body can take this much longer. Please make it stop RG. Just tell us who it is!

I can’t see any scenario where Day and Leavitt would both be candidates for the CU job - they share almost zero coaching characteristics.

One is an older, defensive guy not known as a great recruiter but with CU ties and previous head coaching experience looking for perhaps his last opportunity as a head coach.

The other is a young, offensive guy who is a good recruiter, no CU ties, no previous HC experience but appears ready to take on his first HC job.

Unless RG has no set criteria and is taking a scattershot approach, I am not buying that both are real candidates. I know which one I would prefer.

Has anyone stalked the Duck boards to see what they may be quacking about regarding Leavitt?
Aren't we supposed to stay quiet and send in a Husky to flush them out?

I'm sure he's working every angle to get a G5 head coaching job, so I get why duck fans would be talking about trying to keep him.

Football Scoop mentioned Leavitt, Tucker and Mason as the candidates. They are taking Thamel's (or whatever) tweet yesterday and running with it. It ain't gonna be Leavitt.
Football scoop is a repository for coaches' agents to pump hype for their guys. Day has a game tomorrow, and it makes sense his agent isn't calling up anyone and throwing his name around. If he's already agreed to a deal, even more reason not to bother.

I just like that Tucker keeps getting mentioned. That tidbit read like a bit straight from his agent. I'm guessing he's getting his name out there because he wants to find a job this year.

(I acknowledge Tucker also has a game tomorrow. I'm distinguishing the situations between the two coordinators on a thin basis: Tucker is playing Bama and knows he's leaving, while Day isn't trying to get out for just any situation)
