CU officially hires Mel Tucker as new Head Football Coach

I think Coach Tucker expects greater than 5-6 wins next season. His calmness and experience accounts for an additional 2-3 wins next season IMO. Remember how often we lost momentum (and therefore games) because macintyre was such a goofball with clock management? Me too.

I think they can win the Wins, win the Toss Ups, and beat Stanford and USC at home for 8 wins! Stanford will have no offense and our defense will be able to stop the run.
USC still has Helton and KK’s offense will not likely be running on all cylinders.
So happy to be a Buff fan!
Tuck em up Buffs!

KK to USC is far from a done deal.

Top 25 Recruiters of 2018
Guess who makes this list ?

oh... anyway we can get Dell McGee to come out West ?

Dell McGee would be huge!!! I would love to be the running Buffaloes again, with visions of Brown and Purify running the F over Nebraska. Balanced offense would be nice, considering we have the WR's to do a lot, but McGee would immediately juice up the running game, and attract some serious RB's to come over the next few seasons.

McGee would be the titts !! CU though would have to pay him BIG BOY $$ which they won't

Can we get some confirmation already?? RG is a master, I know there have been “leaks” but the fact it’s gone on this long without any actual confirmation and we didn’t even know this until 2 days ago is pretty amazing. Nothing like food cart.

I agree, need closure.

Kirby Smart said there is a Big Gala for the Georgia Football program tonight, so it may be up to Coach Tucker to keep things normal until that Gala is over and he gets a chance to celebrate a good season with his team, and then move on. Seems like with the event that RG has planned, maybe Tucker heads up to NYC to meet with RG there to get all the details done, then maybe we can get our presser on Tuesday evening or Wednesday. Feels like a Wednesday presser is what it going to happen.
This deal is 99.99999999999999999% done.

Nah, ahoelk just doesn't like Tucker and is making **** up to justify it. I especially like the idea that the offensive line doesn't fit his abilities.
I am really enjoying the “ignore” function we have here. I read all these responses and have absolutely no context for the idiocy coupled with pedantry you reference. Whoever Assholeskin is, he must have chosen an apt nom de guerre.

Wow, first word used on AB that I had no idea what it meant, glad I learned another word today!

ped·ant·ry
/ˈped(ə)ntrē/
noun
  1. excessive concern with minor details and rules.
"to object to this is not mere pedantry"
    synonyms:dogmatism, purism, literalism, formalism;
    [TBODY] [/TBODY]

We need to win the pac-12 next year to keep our conference championship streak alive. CU has won a conference title in every single decade dating to the 189x’s, except the 195x’s. Expectitions are large.

That’s not even a reason or a response. If you don’t have any reasons than you have no argument. I like Tucker for what he’s historically known for. Tell me how other hires could directly affect the team where he could not, in detail. You can’t, because you don’t know, because nobody knows what these coaches can or will do.

Why don’t you just say. “He may be good, he may be bad but I honestly don’t know what the future holds but I have doubts about his fit.”

Everything else you’re saying is pure bull****.

I have doubts about his fit and don't want him here. He's never coached west of Chicago and most of the recruits on the 24/7 list of his are from either GA or FL-the four and five stars are great, but can he get those kids here? And just to respond to Snow's nonsense-I prefer Jimmy Lake (who is also African-American-so those of you accusing me of being racist because I don't like this don't have legs to stand on) to Mel Tucker too because he coaches in this league currently and recruits in the same places we recruit in. The way I read the tea leaves is he's been out of this for a few days.

We get it.

Just stop. Your objections have been registered.

That’s fine and I understand your concerns. You prefer Lake over Tucker due to where they’re used to recruiting, understandable. I guess all we can truly do is trust that RG knows and understands this and thought Tucker’s persona and coaching background was a better fit for Boulder. I don’t know that one candidate is better than the other to be honest. I hope RG is right and hit the homerun it feels like he hit with him as a coach. We will have to wait and see but I would have been excited to have any of the three; day, Tucker, lake.

In the end I just want to be great again.

So it sounds like your main concerns are his ability to recruit within the CU footprint and his “fit” for the Colorado culture. Those are both fair concerns—although the “fit” critique is a bit amorphous. In any event, those are both things I would expect a competent AD to be on the lookout for in the interview process. I believe we have a competent AD, so if this is RG’s guy, then I expect those issues have been addressed.

TLDR so racist.

Yes, we are aware of your opinion. We are aware your favorite candidate didn’t get the job. According to those polls, at least 90% of us didn’t get our #1 candidate. You can now either get on the train and support your Buffs or feel free to jump ship to whichever program hires your favorite candidate next year. But please stop saying the same damn thing over and over again.

What. The. ****? It's fine to have doubts. It's fine to prefer other candidates. I just can't understand how you say something like this. Unless he stole your girlfriend or something.

Yeah? I've read a lot of people on here with this type of take on Jim Leavitt, and I don't agree with or understand that either. You disagree with my opinion. That's fine.
