Build Rick George a Statue (was #fireRickGeorge)

Thanks for side stepping my question. I never once said improvements weren’t needed. I said prioritizing them over the coaching staff and product on the field was dumb. I’ve also stated today those were a huge priority when CU was winning 10, 5, 5, 5, and 4 (bowl game) games, and seemingly just needed a little extra to get over the hump. The last 2+ months have changed everything about how I view this program
Ok well I’m going to appreciate small improvements to the gameday atmosphere and fan experience because they should be part of a longer term strategy and will be here long after the current coaching staff. If people want to be upset at any dollar spent on anything besides a buyout that’s up to you.

I’m upset that we can’t get out from underneath this staff, yes, but hey, I’m sure looking forward to pissing in an actual urinal soon. #smallvictories

1) where has Mr. Bloom demonstrated talent for running a major (college) Athletic Department?
2/3/6) what does this have to do with running a major (college) Athletic Department?
4) where has Mr. Bloom demonstrated his savvy running a major (college)Athletic Department?
5) how does this help Mr. Bloom negotiate contracts?
7) I love them too. That makes me a good AD candidate?
8) what about being a Buff makes him more qualified for this job than an AD with experience?

The main job of the AD is 1a) fundraising and 1b) crushing football coach hires. None of what you’ve written indicates that he has any acumen for doing 1b even if he could possibly do 1a semi-competently.
Jeremy Bloom is qualified
He is CEO of his company Integrate
I get the former Buff angst, but when a former Buff is actually talented, open your ****ing eyes before you comment

Rick George was the COO and then President of Baseball Ops for the Texas Rangers and prior to that was the EVP and Chief of Operations for the PGA Tour.

Just cause a dude has a successful business career doesn't mean he will be a good AD
Duh

but he is an experienced College Football and College Track athlete, Olympic Skier, was a pioneer of NIL in college. Is media and tech savvy, involved in fund raising with private equity, CEO of a company. As far as hiring and firing, wasn’t the thread full of more misses than hits by all of our other AD’s😳. Honestly, the CU AD job is a demotion for Bloom, but he would be a good type of person for the job.

Jeremy has an impressive resume no doubt, and I think there could be a role for him in the AD, but not as what would be the leader of the AD trying to bring the football program back to life

On second thought, throw everything penny into making Folsom the comfiest stadium ever since this team will always be garbage.

Dear Rick,

Since my Saturday viewing of the Buffs is no longer (close to) satisfying, at least I can tune into the ****sters to watch them lose again.

Thanks.

I asked you pointed questions that you’ve decided to sidestep because you wanna suck off Jeremy Bloom.

Just because he is the CEO of some random company, that doesn’t make him qualified to be the Athletic Director of a major college Athletic Department. I presume you think that every former Buff who’s had success in life should be the Athletic Director?

Perhaps you should open your own fvcking eyes and tell us how his achievements in a field that’s entirely different than big time athletics makes him qualified.

I suspect the reason you didn’t answer is because you’ve got no answers.

If the CU AD we’re actually forward thinking, they might consider creating an arm within the AD dedicated to student athlete NIL coordination, marketing, promotion, and brand partnerships. I’d love Bloom to run that organization at CU. Want to make him Associate AD for Athlete Promotion? Awesome. As the head AD? No.

What experience does Jeremy Bloom have in running a major (college) Athletic Department?

Raises for tech companies with obscene/overblown valuations is far different than the fundraising duties from alumni for a university. Literally zero of what you’ve indicated speaks to the other important job of the AD: crushing football coach hires. He has no experience doing that, no experience negotiating contracts of the sort, and no credibility with agents in the football coach community.

But hey, he’s athletic!

I agree that Bloom would be a fantastic asset within the department - especially in helping collaborate in designing an in-house NIL apparatus. But, we both know that running the entire organization and being a part of the larger deal are far different. Rick George’s experience/resume far trump anything that Jeremy Bloom’s got going on and RG had gotten much worse at his job. I’ve asked for those connections and received nothing other than cable news style bullet points.

My requirement for any new hire in the athletic department is they cannot have went to or previously worked at CU in any capacity.
So they can have no passion for the job or school and leave when the next best job comes along.
We have been burned badly by former Buffs, but that means the scrutiny needs to better when they are being hired.

Or we could stop being like the British monarchy and get rid of the inbreeding.

People leaving your organization for better jobs is GOOD. That means they did something right. You want to build that and nurture it. Otherwise you end up with an organization of Plati’s.

Burn it all down.

Yep. I look at the basketball program and see how many assistants have moved on to opportunities. Hasn't harmed stability at all.

I do see the value of finding the right coach for CU and having a long-term relationship. That's really hard to find, though. If we look at the Tad model, would have to be a Colorado guy who has a lot of things he cares more about than money and an easy path to a championship.

Let’s also not kid ourselves - Tad is one in a million. We got insanely lucky there. Most coaches who are willing to “settle” for a lower job because they like it actually are just ****ty coaches.

I spent a hot minute in Integrate's offices a few years ago.

I mentioned Jeremy, and the response while obviously being polite, the sense I got was that he was a CEO in name only and it was kind of a distraction for the company.

Please note the employees didn't say those words by any stretch. This is my interpretation of what they said.

Anyway, I thought that might be relevant to the qualifications discussion.
