UCF needs to be willing to play the big teams anytime, anywhere but they haven't done that. They just turned down a 2-for-1 with Florida.

Because that’s a terrible deal for them lol. Florida only offered because they knew UCF would decline so they could say “well see you don’t want to play anybody”
Besides, does scheduling games in 2022 when the current coaching staff will no longer be there have anything to do with this year’s team?

UCF is bigger than UF. Honestly, it's not out of the question that UCF might just keep getting better and better. Biggest university by enrollment in the US now. Full buy in from Admin. to the football program. They're the best program in the state right now.

UCF came out at the start of the game with an intent to prove that they belonged, this was their "national championship game." They were focused, they were prepared, and they got an LSU team that really didn't have a lot to play for. LSU also short a number of their regular players.
UCF got off to a solid start but the talent difference is clear, LSU has taken over with superior athletes across the board.
It isn't a matter of hating (I despise the current use of that word) UCF or Boise or any of the other Cinderellas. Simple fact is that when a team plays a G5 schedule they have a hard time making any kind of argument that an undefeated season means anything in context to the P5 schools.
The only way they can overcome that is to take the approach that the out of conference schedule has to be a proving ground. They have to be willing to give 2 for 1s to get legitimate opponents. (Why should Florida give up huge amounts of money just to give UCF a 1 for 1, it isn't charity) They have to be willing to travel, they have to be willing to play significant opponents on the road in back to back weeks if necessary.
Even if somehow UCF were to come back on turnovers and other breaks this game is clear proof that in a straight up game UCF does not match up to top P5 schools. If they had be put in the playoff against any of the four teams that got in they would get hammered by at least 20.

Boise is a G5 school with G5 resources in a G5 league. Their ability to be at or near the top of their conference and to win as many games as they have on a yearly basis for as long as they have at that level is unmatched.
In that time they have had how many head coaches hired away from them? They have had other programs target them. Very few programs at any level can compare.
In other words, the ASU of Florida.
