How did you feel about Mayfield? Where do you rank Murray relative to Mayfield, Mahomes, Wilson and Jackson as smaller, quicker, more mobile WBs?
For me...
Mahomes 10 (relative)
Wilson 9
Mayfield 7
Murray 6
Jackson 4
I thought Mayfield would be a bust. Not necessarily because of size. He's done well but so have a lot of QB's in year one.

We have zero idea who contacted Baltimore. Could have been a number of teams. It only takes one other team to make it a bidding war.
And the Eagles are going to franchise Foles and trade for a third, according to rumors.
The Eagles would have to cut guys to make that move and gamble someone will give them what they want.
They're 16m OVER the cap as is with Foles counting for 21.6m. The franchise tag number will be around 25m. So they'll need to cut 20m in salary just to get under the cap to accommodate that move.

False. I’m an Eagles fan. They already picked up his option which included an option for Foles to buy his freedom for $2 million which he has already done
This isn’t rocket science. If you follow the league, the only other team who is in current active pursuit for a vet QB is the Jags who hired Foles’ former QB coach as OC

And the rumor here is that they will STILL franchise Foles and are asking for a 3rd rounder.
As Jenns posted above, that roster is going to get blown up due to cap issues but we will see.

He's not a FA until league starts. The Eagles can still franchise him until then. Most players who are franchised are technically FA, until league start day.
I liked Mayfield because I saw him making decisions on the field, using the mental elements of the game. Yes he is mobile but Mayfield showed signs of being able and willing to win with his mental game.
This isn't saying Murray isn't intelligent but I saw Murray being much more reliant on his physical skills. Instead of going down the reads and looking for a secondary (or third) receiver he is much more prone to pulling the ball down and trying to do it on his own or to trust his gun and try to force the ball through coverage.
In college his athletic ability is good enough to get away with that and win, in the pros not so much.
My friend just told me the Broncos should draft Jalen Hurts in 2020. @Duff Man what do you think of that?

You’re right about that and I apologize. But here’s the deal: the Eagles have 9 draft picks this year including two 2nd’s. They get a 3rd comp pick in 2020 for letting Foles walk. The amount of hurdles and risks they would have to take to franchise Foles is not worth it getting a 3rd a year earlier. We can circle back here on March 5th when it’s clear to everyone that he’s an FA.
That's my thinking, too. There's always a lottery involved with the comp picks, but clearing 20m just to be able to trade a guy for a mid rounder seems like quite a task to me. And money will be tight anyway when you consider they may want to make a move or two in FA and need money to sign their draft class.

Problem though with Foles is that he will be the "name" FA QB this year. He is not going to get Cousins money but he is going to get paid well and he will get a big guarantee.
There is a good chance he is like Keenum as a product of the system and the talent around him and I would hate to be tied to him.

I read that several times as according to Warren Sapp and couldn't figure out why he'd be compiling stats like that
According to Sharp, San Fran was #2 in the NFL in snap percentage taken under center (56%). Anyone want to guess which teams were #1, #3, #4, and #5 in the league?
1 - Rams (63%), 3 - Patriots (55%), 4 - Saints (51%), 5 - Falcons (50%)
Obviously speaks to the strengths of the QBs on those teams.
Definitely, although I wouldn't quite go that far with the Rams and Goff. Everybody loves them some Sean McVay and his new age innovative offense, but what I don't think most people realize is that his offense is the Shanahan/Kubiak offense from the 90s and early 2000s, with a few different wrinkles. McVay came from the Mike Shanahan (and Kyle Shanahan) tree in Washington, which was really when Mike and Kyle brought that offense into the 21st century with RG3.
When you look at the same numbers for the lowest percent under center last year, you have KC at 1, Pitt at 2, Phil at 3, and Chicago at 4. Three of those four HCs/OCs came from the Andy Reid tree (or are Andy Reid).
What this tells me is that younger QBs are probably going to have more success from Shotgun because that's what they're used to (Mahomes, Wentz, Trubisky), but running an offense mostly from under center does not equal archaic or antiquated.

Mahomes is 6'3"
Jackson is 6'3"
Wilson is 5'11" and Mayfield is 6'1". We will see how Murray height comes out at the combine - I have heard numbers from 5'8" to 5'11". If he comes in at 5'9" then he is 4 " shorter than Mayfield.

So, my original point still stands. The Broncos could've went after Foles without spending any draft picks this year. A QB in his prime who won at Chicago in the playoffs after pulling off one of the biggest upsets of the year (+13.5 spread) in LA against the Rams and then beating another playoff team (Texans). Super Bowl MVP last year in the greatest offensive game in NFL history by total yards from scrimmage.
But hey, Flacco can play under center, is cheaper, & got hot in the playoffs 7 years ago. Definitely worth a 4th rd pick to not even try to get Foles first.

Just to be fair, Foles will probably get more than Flacco will make in the open market. Also, they can cut Flacco with no dead money if he falls on his face. Can’t do that with Foles. When looking at the big picture, Flacco is probably better for the Broncos at this moment.
