2012 Pac-12 Commitment Tracker

Big weekend for UCLA. Among the visitors are four teammates from Euless Trinity (two are already committed), as well as 4* players Devin Fuller and Luke Kaumatule.

He has not publicly committed to Cal. He will be deciding this weekend.

USC is not an option because his family has issues with the medical staff there.

ESPN showing that UCLA has flipped QB TJ Millweard from ASU. That UCLA class continues to fill up.

Sounds like UCLA is really close to picking up Nate Iese at TE as well. They are playing with fire by not just telling some kids to look elsewhere because there is no way they are keeping everyone currently committed to them. Could be a cluster**** come a couple weeks from now.

What can they do? Tell them there is no scholarship for them? Greyshirt? Get lost? I'm not getting why ucla and mora are all the rage.

Usually when a new staff takes over, they are upfront with certain kids and tell them they no longer have a place in the class (Embree did this). That is why it is weird to see them not only adding a bunch of new recruits, but also being reluctant to cut guys loose. The numbers have to work somehow.

Maybe mora figured out the $ec way to do it...

You can only take 25 no matter how many guys you cut from the team. We're going to see some guys get left high and dry with a week left before signing day. We'll also see some other offered a grayshirt or to be cut loose from their LOI after signing day once UCLA has over-signed.

This may be a highly rated class for Mora, but it's going to burn a lot of high school coaches.

He's not in it for the long game, though. If he can win, he'll jump at an NFL job in a few years.

UCLA just signed their 28th player....

Nobody is signed until Feb 1 unless they are an EE. They have committments form 28 and will either have to cut some lose, ask current players to leave or ask a pretty large number of committs to gray shirt. They can take 25 in the class and not exceed 85 on the roster.

My mistake on the verbage. They have 28 committed, and they're still in the running for some 4* types. I'd be really nervous if I wasn't one of the guys that committed before Mora got there.

Agree completely. Something is going to have to give.

Sounds like 4* athlete Devin Fuller is going to visit Zona next weekend. Would hate to see him in Dick Rod's offense.

Updated the lists (fluid until signing day though) for each school. Rivals has the class rankings as follows:

1. Oregon
2. Cal
3. Stanford
4. USC
5. UCLA
6. Utah
7. Oregon State
8. Washington
9. Colorado
10. Arizona
11. Washington State
12. Arizona State

Some other observations:

-It is amazing to see how badly things have gone for ASU in a matter of months. They have held on to their Long Beach Poly players, but other than that, not much else has gone right. It also appears Graham is going for a quick fix with JUCOs. We are talking about a team that was poised to win the PAC-12 South at one time and looked like a good bet to finish in the top 25-30 in recruiting. They now sit at the bottom of the PAC-12 and there is no reasonable expectation that they will finish with a late flurry either.

-Oregon State has put together a good class in the face of two disappointing seasons in a row on the field. They are also the favorite to land Kenny Lawler.

-Cal's situation is pretty precarious right now. It is possible they could lose Shaq Thompson, Jordan Payton, or Kenneth Walker. Obviously Thompson is the crown jewel, but the other two guys are pretty damn good in their own right.

-UCLA's new coaching staff is on a roll.

-If the coaches can pull off a couple nice grabs by signing day, we should be able to finish smack dab in the middle of the conference. Not bad overall, but that is contingent on pulling in a couple name players.

Going to be interesting to see what Cal's class looks like on signing day. Shaq Thompson, Bryce Treggs, Jordan Payton, Kenneth Walker, and Zach Hoffpauir are all looking around at other Pac-12 schools. Most will likely stick with the Bears, but even losing a couple of those guys would be a lbow to the Bears.

BTW, looks lik Zach Banner will announce for USC on Monday.

Rumour that Stanford sent one of their commits a letter telling him his offer was withdrawn. Anyone know more?

Expected, but still big for Stanford. They are putting together a terrific group of OL that could be capped off with Murphy or Peat.
