2018-2019 Coaching Carousel..

Interesting article:

Glass Ceiling? Fewer Group of Five coaches are landing Power Five jobs

I like both of those coaches (Neal Brown and Scott Satterfield) but you can't help wondering that it's not about the coaching acumen but the recruiting and player development at a big time program that AD's and major supporters want to see. Much harder to see that at the G5 level (aside from maybe a half dozen schools, like Houston, UCF, etc)
Dan Hawkins, case in point.

Who would have thought a program like Kansas could make a hire like that - good for them, that’s a big boy college football move. Will be interesting to see how much LM has left.
KU seems to have historically hired great, at the time of the hire.

After the big one dropped Update:

Filled jobs:

KU- pulls the trigger first, Les Miles, 5 years $2.775MM/year.
Louisville- Jeff Brohm jumps ship from Purdue. (h/t SewallBeach) No official announcement yet. UPDATE: Jeff Brohm says his departure is "completely false" .https://www.jconline.com/story/spor...ille-speculation-completely-false/2014781002/ Of course, that means he will be in Louisville by Dec. 1.

Open jobs:

CU- Mike MacIntyre out, Kurt Roper interim.
The other threads will be the place to look for info, I will post, but others are on top of this.
BGSU- Mike Jinks the first casualty (h/t Mtn.)
Maryland- DJ Dirkin gets the hook for just one dead player, can you believe it? (h/t SewallBeach)

Secondary Market:

Purdue- Brohm leaves for Louisville, or he stays.

Possibles:

USC- Helton on thin ice, Jack Del Rio rumors (h/t onealcd), this week's loss to fUCLA pretty much is the nail in the coffin.
UCONN- Edsall not winning
Rutgers- Chris Ash
Illinois- Lovie Smith
UNC- Larry Fedora
Okie Lite- The Mullet man
GT- Paul Johnson (h/t ahoelsken)
KjSU- Snydley may hang it up (h/t ahoelsken)
Vanderbilt- Derek Mason. (h/t ahoelsken), but nik says no movement until a new AD says Boo.

Other news:
Malzahn will stay apparently. (h/t TSchek)
DJ Durkin to get a $5MM buyout.
Major "Howdy Doody" Applewhite has close brush with death. Narrowly escapes being All-America DT Ed Oliver's sideline hors d'ouerve in gripping wardrobe dispute.

Apparently USC would owe Helton around $20 million if they fired him. That is crazy.
The USC thing to do, politically, is to force Swann to do the firing in order to put the budget stuff on him. Then fire Swann and let the new AD hire Del Rio.
