CU officially hires Mel Tucker as new Head Football Coach

Sure. It's about level of interest, though. If I start a thread about Arizona or Utah, how many replies is it going to get? How much academic and other smack is going to be run? How many anecdotal stories like yours will be added? That's my entire point. CU has 2 rivals - i.e., programs that our fanbase cares about enough to where many will go off to drive the discussion and just about everyone will have at least a small comment or casual opinion they may choose to share. It's not even close to like that with any other program.

I agree with this and it pisses me off.

I get it, we hate Nebraska. I really hope that HCMT finds a way for the fan base to turn our attention away from the corn. I really don't hate Nebraska. I feel sorry for them. I feel sorry for them the way you feel sorry for a stray dog in a developing county. It is really sad when you see that kind of suffering. So you give it some table scraps and it has a moment of joy, wags its tails and then takes off so that nothing else can get at the morsel that you just fed it. (That morsel is like game day in Lincoln)

Now USC on the other hand. I f^cking hate them! I hate them way worse than I ever hated the corn. Those Motherf^ckers are the most candya$$ed little spoiled walking sh!tbags in all of college sports. It is like an entire campus full of Blaines from Pretty and Pink. Not that smart but they think they are like Stanford smart. Not very attractive but they think they are CU good looking. They think they have research like the the UC schools but the only thing they are good at is graduating soon to be porn directors out of their sh!tty film school.

The only thing about that school that isn't completely worthless is their cheerleader's sweaters.
They underachieve almost every f^cking year in almost every f^cking sport, but most of all football. Just because they recruit a kid the damn recruiting service put another star next to his name.
Most schools don't have that as many bad coaching hires in a lifetime as USC has in a decade.
The school is located in a smoggy, littered, crummy part of one of the worst towns in the western hemisphere.
It is like someone stretched old Aurora out for about 1000 square miles and then gave it about 68 different names like La Habra, Whittier, Orange, Claremont, and City of Industry and on and on and on.
Don't even get me started on the damn highways.

My friends. It is time that we shifted our collective hate. It is time that we went from hating Red and White to hating Scarlet and Puke. (It basically is puke red)
it is time, in 2019, to forget about all of those close losses and 62-36. It is time that we moved on to bigger and better hate! It is time to hate USC!

What do you say AllBuffs? Are you with me?!?! Let's get em!!

Please start one about Utah. Living in Salt Lake City and working for a company that sits on the Utah campus and is filled with Utah fans...is killing me. If anyone wants to develop a hate for a team (one which I never had toward Utah before) just work in a place where they constantly talk about how wonderful Utah is and shrug off anything I say about the Buffs. Having said all this, I realize I may be the only one to get on a Utah rivalry chat and vent. So I agree with your overall point

I understand completely. While I have long hated the Fuskers, my hate reached new levels once I had to actually live amongst the population of toothless drooling sycophants.

Many moons ago (2006) I spent most of a summer at Tinker AFB in OK City. I was amused by how whenever you were directed to go talk to someone they would tell you the best person who also had same allegiance (OK vs. OK St). Didn't matter if it was the right person to talk to, just had to be a fan of the same team.

Did you really type that out, or are you efficient with your hate and ctrl-v?

I agree, let's hope the recruiting is on par or at least close to USC .
That would be nice and all, but realistically we have no chance of recruiting at a typical SC level unless CU becomes a perennial top 10 team which I don't see happening anytime soon. The issue really shows itself when USC has it's worst recruiting class in I don't know how many years and it's still a top 20 class. The only reason they had such a low class by SC standards is because they have a terrible head coach that's a dead man walking at this point. The way you beat SC is outcoaching them with good talent even if it's not top 10 recruiting class talent. That's how everyone that has beat them since they Pete Carroll era did it. Carroll won so many games because he was a great coach with great talent. Since then, SC has kept up the great talent and had poor coaches making them very vulnerable.

  • NATE LANDMANLB, COLORADO BUFFALOES

Chris Hummer of 247Sports lists Colorado junior LB Nate Landman as one of the players who will benefit most from a coaching change at their school.

Landman was one of the few bright spots for the Buffaloes last year, registering 104 tackles with 15 of them going for loss as a sophomore. Now, he's going to get to play in head coach Mel Tucker's defensive system, and that's a system that puts a lot of onus on the middle linebacker. "Under Tucker’s direction (more importantly, in his defense), he could develop into a future NFL standout," writes Hummer. We're excited to see what he can do, and this is a real sleeper to keep an eye on in 2019.

I have poked as much fun as anyone at the QC role, but as others point out these guys can watch hours and hours of tape on opponents, chart tendencies, look for tells, and a host of other time consuming things coaches on the field at practice do not have the time to do. Hard not to see it as a positive development.

It’s a vital part of any big program. I’m glad we are doing it. And I believe they can be on the recruiting trail too.

If my research is right, I don’t think QC folks recruit. Their role is limited to scouting internal/opposing players/schemes and consulting with the coaching staff about various game plan options. I believe they’re also assigned various game day tasks to assist the coaching staff in their decision making process (challenges, alignment miscues, opponent tells, etc.)

Wasn’t DaPrado QC? And he was out. Or was he a GA?

I worry about the Air Force game because of how they play. It's assignment football. Preparing for that style is something they should take seriously.

Well, I'd hope they would be prepared for it. The GT game experience should help. It's just hard to prepare for an O you don't see many teams running.

I think they are now limited by NCAA rules on how many you can have upstairs if my recollection is correct. They cannot travel to recruit.

But the contacts they have can be exploited by the actual coaches on the road, and the Recruiting Apparatus is better off with as many people with as many contacts as possible right? There are contacts in California and Oklahoma and probably other places, so we are better with these guys!
