Games thread- #20/18 WOMEN'S BBall hosts Le Moyne (Wed., 11/8/23, 6:00 PM MT; Free stream) & Oklahoma State (Sunday, 4:00 PM MT; Pac 12 Network)

#20 ranked Women's basketball (1-0 this year; Last season - 25-9 overall, 13-5 in conference play), fresh off probably their biggest win in program history (or at minimum in post- Ceal Berry history) will I'm sure be looking to keep up the intensity as they follow up the win over #1 LSU with a 2 game homestand. 1st off they're facing off on Wednesday evening against the Le Moyne Dolphins (0-1 this season; Last season - 21-7, 16-4), who are transitioning to D1 and started competing in the Northeast Conference (NEC) in fall 2023, followed up with a late Sunday afternoon match-up against the past and future conference foe Oklahoma State Cowgirls (1-0 this season; Last season - 21-12, 10-8).

Wednesday's game is scheduled to be shown on a freee live stream, while Sunday's is on the Pac 12 Network's National and Mountain channels. (More info and links near the bottom of this post.)

Note - Not that it means too much, but just for a basic reference the Buffs ended up last season at #20 in the Net rankings, while OSU was #46.

honestly, I'm feeling slightly guilty that I didn't look into this earlier -- they deserve a lot of love.

Small private school in Syracuse and yea they just moved up to D1 this year

Shelley will always be my all time favorite Buff. Until a player becomes an All American, I will see her as the best player we ever had. She has told me that is no longer true.

The training and coaching is so much different now that it's comparing apples and oranges.

Barb Smith coached Shelly in to being the best point guard in the country in her final season.

I'm happy she got to be a part of this. She has done a lot of work with Sherrod and Wetta. Happy that now she is an official coach and can do it at practice.

She was doing film meetings with Sherrod and Wetta. Last season when they went to the bench they went to Shelley and her clip board and she was drawing up the plays and showing them what would get better results.
 
::Last season and the season before, we had a hard time scoring over 70 points. Had to rely on the defense to stop the other team.

If we can have 3 players stepping up every game, this is going to be a season for the ages.

We scored 90 points against the defending national champion.

Kim was so funny yesterday. She said she were like the Little Red Hen. She had the story wrong. The Little Red Hen didn't say what Kim said. :ROFLMAO:

Inland NY city who's mascot is a dolphin. Must be from Oneida Lake. Weird.
 
Umm, I just looked at the score. At what point to they turn off the scoreboard like they did when my kids were 9 years old?
 
52-21 at the half. The discrepancy in size, athleticism, and skill is way too much for Le Moyne to overcome. I know that they are new to DI and this was a last-minute scheduling situation, but the Dolphins are just way out of their league in this one. Adams State put up a better fight in the exhibition game. Lots of different players getting court time, and the coaches are experimenting with different lineups- gotta like that.

I'm so irritated with the PAC Network. Every regional channel as well as the main one are broadcasting replays of soccer games. Cal and Stanford are also hosting games tonight; what is the deal with the conference refusing to show live events on the channels that we own?! Who is watching a soccer game from two weeks ago?! Ughh... (rant over, Go Buffs!)
 
Atchison has potential to be a really good player for us. She can score, and looks like she got lock down defender body type.

Probably a cost cutting measure that goes against what was promised with PACN (broadcasting everything). I once heard an idea floated of having production studio setups on every campus and making broadcast teams (on-air & other roles) staffed by students & faculty from the related schools at the university for all the games that weren't on the main PACN channel. Basically, huge cost cuts and work opportunities for everything on a regional PACN or the app. I think I could have gotten on board with that.
 
I mean they do have a broadcast team and production crew covering the game...I'm watching it on my laptop. I don't understand why they can't simulcast on the PAC Network -Mtn. at least. I'd rather watch on my tv... "Our" regional channel is currently broadcasting an hour-long version of ASU football at Utah. Why?!

Unfortunately, the "why" is likely that a football rerun draws a lot more viewers than a WBB game against a school most people have never heard of. But who knows? Most likely incompetence and mismanagement since it's the Pac-12 and they've never been able to figure out what goals its decisions are supposed to serve.
 
Yeah, it was more of a rhetorical question lol. I truly believe that the PAC's demise was decided when good ole boy Larry couldn't get the network bundled with ESPN or Fox (or carried by DirecTV at all...). The Network could have been a game-changer for all PAC schools, but it ended up being a liability. I'm sure they've totally given up even trying at this point.

This could be a win that hurts RPI.
 
Missed the game. Interesting that the neither Lele Tanuvasa nor Ruthie Loomis-Goltl played tonight. I know that Kennedy Sanders and Shelomi Sanders are injured.

Hope to read a recap from from someone who was at the game.
