Official CU RPI Watch 2016-17

At the risk of waking up the jinx monkey...

LA Monroe is up by 2 at half at VCU
Wofford is only down 6 late in the 1st half at GA Tech

Utah in a tight game against San Francisco halfway through the first in Hawaii.

The win tonight moved the Buffs to #63. Waiting to see how the rest of the night shakes out. Portland and CSU are the most important ones and both are trailing by a bit on the road.

not a good RPI... but we are in position to do what we need to do. Got to give the noncon performance a B or so. 10-3 aint bad, Xavier win good, CSU loss horrible, BYU loss understandable but regrettable.

There's still some wonkiness in the numbers that needs to shake out, too. For example, TX Southern is at #54 despite being 4-9 because they've played the #7 SOS.

good to know. It's funny I'm so down on this team despite the fact that I (and 90% of our fanbase) almost certainly have taken 10-3 with a win over xavier if that was offered at the beginning of the season. We just play so damn ugly. And it's not even Tadball. It's basketball in molasses. Then you look up and they've scraped out another win.

San Francisco up 15 on Utah now. Kuzma sprained an ankle early. Ronnie Boyce, not Donnie, lighting it up.

CSU and Portland both collapsed down the stretch. Really bad results for CU today other than BYU continuing to climb.

Updated the OP.

Buffs finish the non-conference with the #71 RPI. 9-3 record vs D1 opponents.

Very few games in college hoops the next week, so this won't change much if at all.

Next up for the Buffs is 1/1 at Utah.

Took look at Utah and their fan comments are very similar to what you see here. They do not have a signature win over a team like Xavier and have loss to USF who may be better than RPI ranks them.

Well regular season conference play is now here with teams tipping off tomorrow

Mike Davis is running a strange ship down there. All pre-conference games (16 of them) are road games & include Az, Louisville and other good teams. Kind of a halfway house for troubled kids. This year's star is Zach Lofton, who is on his 4th school - including Minnesota where he got booted before playing a minute. Last years star was Chris Thomas, a former Denver kid who was once a 5* and played at 5 schools. Strange.

#24 Notre Dame up 41-26 over St Peter's with 16 minutes left
#17 Xavier up 46-31 over Providence with 17 minutes left
Grambling and Louisiana-Monroe just underway
Later on tonight:
#2 UCLA vs #21 Oregon
Air Force vs Wyoming
Seattle vs UC Davis
#22 USC vs Oregon State
CSU vs UNLV

Oregon up 49-37 on UCLA with 3 minutes left in the half.
Notre Dame and Xavier both won

What a finish to this UCLA @ Oregon game. Ducks hit 2 straight 3s in the final 13 seconds sandwiched around Alford (90% guy) missing the front end of a 1-and-1. Ducks by 2 with 0.8 left.

Ducks win. Walton really seemed pissed that the Oregon fans stormed the court before the game was over. Then stormed it again after the buzzer. Will the Pac-12 fine them twice for that?

Today's Games

Arizona St. at Stanford
No.22 USC at No.21 Oregon
E. Wash. at Idaho
Seattle at UCSB
No.18 Arizona at California
No.2 UCLA at Oregon St.

CU at #67 this morning. They are really going to need to turn it up in conference play, but as noted elsewhere, just not sure I see that panning out. I hope I am wrong.

CU entered today at #64.

Saturday, 12/31, games we care about:

#17 Xavier at Georgetown (tight game in the 2nd half right now on FS1 - Xavier win would be a nice boost & keep Georgetown behind us)
Mercer at Wofford, 11am on ESPN3 stream (this is when Wofford needs to turn it on and start piling up wins)
#24 Notre Dame at Pittsburgh, 12pm on ACCN (would be a huge win over an 11-2 Pitt that's currently #25 RPI)
Utah State at Air Force, 12pm (couple of not so good .500 teams - AFA needs to win these types of game at home)
North Dakota at Sacramento State, 1:05pm (somewhat winnable one for Sac State, though any win by them is probably an upset)
BYU at Loyola Marymount, 2pm (LM is now 7-5 and this would be a solid little road win for a rising BYU that's now 10-4)
LA Monroe at Little Rock, 2pm (reasonable possibility for a road upset at a pretty decent Little Rock squad)
CSU at Boise State, 3pm on ESPN3 stream (challenging but winnable road game here)
Pepperdine at Portland, 6pm (absolute must-win for 8-5 Portland against a 4-9 Pepperdine that hasn't won a road game)

One of those days where CU could significantly move in the RPI one direction or the other despite not playing.

(n)Sacramento State(n)

Came back from a 21-point halftime deficit to force overtime... and then lost. That's rough.
