Other Games Weekend of October 15-17

Utah State up early 10-3 on (21) Boise State.

Utah State has had some injuries including a really good QB in Chucky Keeton. Playing a Soph dual threat kid who is doing a good job. Well coached team, like to see them beat Boise.

Also (24) Houston up 7-0 at the end of the 1st quarter against Tulane

and Cincinnati up 17-10 at half against BYU.

And now Utah State on the verge of blowing them out.

Forced a fumble on the sack, scored a TD to go up 17-3 and now 2 plays later force another fumble inside the 20. Score a TD here and Boise will be in deep trouble.

Utah State 38 Boise 10

Boise keeps turning the ball over and USU keeps forcing them to do so then taking advantage. Been a long time since we have seen somebody lay one on Boise like this, especially a school from their own conference and unranked

Meanwhile Cincinnati leads BYU 24-17 but BYU is driving.

For the record, I never stated that CU could switch to the Stanford system now and have success.

However, I know that CU will never be able to consistently beat USC, UCLA or Oregon at their own game. We'll never out-recruit them for QB's or top talent. At our current pace, we'll be lucky to have a good year and make it to the top 5 or 6 teams.

But what if we DIDN'T go after the same TYPE of players as them? What if we targeted players that fit a running smash mouth offense? The same type of players that Stanford has built a program around and beat the **** out of USC, UCLA and Oregon!!!

Just look at how well Utah is doing with recruiting classes ranked similar to our own. Do I really need more proof? I've been calling for this **** forever it seems. ****ing tired of watching our slow approach to a spread offense and a finesse defense. That is NOT CU football.

CU would have better luck out-recruiting those schools for QB's and other positions, than they would on the OL/DL. That's what makes programs truly elite, their talent on the lines. It takes relatively huge numbers, and there's not enough to go around. They're the hardest position to recruit, and generally only the top programs can land many highly rated OL/DL prospects in a single class.

Utah has done a really good job of developing and maintaining their DL over the years.

CU can try and emulate that and develop good OL and DL over time, but they're probably going to need some schematic advantages regardless.

When was the last time Boise State got destroyed in a conference game?

What game are we watching?
Best match-up should be Iowa Northwestern but it is B1G football, could be boring.

Baylor WVU will have a lot of fireworks but WVU is having trouble keeping it close and losing key players to injury to make it harder. This one could be a blowout by halftime.

Louiseville is currently leading Free Shoes U, that might end up being the best early game.

Iowa 9 NW 0

Yeah ... pretty boring so far. But Gary Barnett is the honorary captain for NW, and 80 of 87 still living roster players from the '95 B1G co-champs and Rose Bowl team showed up for a reunion ... not too shabby.

Memphis is giving Mississippi a game. 14-7 Miss, Memphis lining up for a short FG. Good. 14-10 late in the 1st half.

Memphis is basically an Ole Miss hub for alumni. This will be awesome if it stays like this.

Yep. Orgeron considered Memphis in-state when he was HC at Ole Miss.

Exactly. Technically, Memphis is the biggest market in Mississippi. Jackson sucks, it shouldn't be considered a real city. And Memphis is closer to Oxford than Jackson by an hour.
