Bah...and just after the story comes out the NCAA announces there is no evidence that the administration knew anything...no failure to monitor charge, they're not going to get whacked with anything near USC penalties.

What a joke! Now it's guaranteed that they are going to throw the book at oreg0n. Let the big boys slide and take it out on the lesser teams.

NCAA investigators said they found no evidence that Ohio State failed to properly monitor its football program or any evidence of a lack of institutional control, according to a letter sent to the university and released Friday.
NCAA investigators also said they have not found any new violations.
"Considering the institution's rules education and monitoring efforts, the enforcement staff did not believe a failure to monitor charge was appropriate in this case," the NCAA said in the letter sent Thursday.

And Tressel is saying that he knew that OSU would "pay the fiddler" eventually.

The NCAA is a joke.
 
On Sportscenter this morning, they stated that OSU will likely get minor penalties. They stated that the NCAA feels only Tressel knew about this stuff and that he was fired. Therefore no lack of institutional control.
 
Take note, Oregon & Auburn. OSU just wrote the book on how to cheat and (mostly) get away with it. Cheat all you want, and once it looks like the story will get out, throw a few people under the bus and self-impose some worthless sanctions.
 
You have to look at each situation individually. Oregon has more AD employees involved aside from Chip Kelly. As much as the OSU situation smells fishy, there is plausible deniability her that Tressel ****ed up and told no one, hence no LOIC.If the NCAA nails Oregon and Auburn, it will not be because each school was worse at cheating than OSU.
 
throwing Tressel "under the bus" was no small thing for OSU. the guy has a NC and a sackful of Big However Many titles. John Cooper couldn't beat Michigan....Earl Bruce got canned. that's 30 years of buckeye football since Woody in a nutshell.
 
when you look at your men's revenue sport champions the last few years....and title game appearances....lot of cheating to go around.

Auburn, UO, UCONN, etc. not exactly an endorsement of the scholar-athlete....UT fired all their assistants from some questionable stuff....and we all the entire SWC was on probation but never Texas, really. funny how that works.

Worse at cheating? No. Worse at damage control? Absolutely.
 
I still believe that eventually it will come out that Tress told Smith or the compliance/general counsel departments about the email tip. This is far from over.

Yep... kinda think espin wants it to be over and done with... so sick of the influence they have over sports.... they really do have nearly complete control over the outcomes of all major sports

This could be plausible for the tattoos, but what about Pryor showing up in a different car every month? Honestly, no on else on the staff or in the administration noticed that? That is beyond plausible.
 
Like I have said before, the NCAA is not, repeat not, going to punish one of the big boys in a way that will discourage them from cheating. USC got some significant penalties, but my money is on the bet they will weather the storm and go right back to cheating and the NCAA will continue to kiss SC, tOSU and Auburn's ass. It's the Colorados, the Georgia Tech and Indiana's of the world who are used as example to "protect the integrity of the student-athlete". The NCAA is a bunch of hypocritical assclowns if you ask me.....

And now?

(ncaa) "Okay, teeOsewe, you failed to educate so that means we can't charge you with failure to monitor."

(tOsewe) "Sounds 'bout right. Now to get the media on our side, we'll vacate 6 wins from 1967."

(ncaa) "Good. We'll see ya again in 2017."
 
The NCAA sent a message all right, if you are big enough, you can cheat all you want without any real ramification...the trick is figuring out if you are one of the untouchables or not....
