UCLA Game Week -- Official Thread (8:30 on ESPN2)

A 10 pm EST and then a 10:30 pm EST kickoff back to back absolutely flippin sucks. What a joke. Both games will end around 2 am here. If their goal is have nobody on the east coast watching the games, they are succeeding wonderfully.
Don't live on the east coast. Ha ha .... I really doubt the Pac 12 is too worried about people in New Jersey or North Carolina staying up late to watch Colorado play UCLA or Washington.

These games have been routinely scheduled this late since CU has been in the Pac 12. I get being upset for the late times when you attend the game, but good grief, its not like this is the first year that this has happened. It's going to continue. I would say get used to it, but its been like this for 6 or so years.
Coaches and administrators have stated that this is detrimental to the football players, and as stated above, it hurts attendance. I don't see this as a "get used to it" issue. I think these times need to be re-evaluated.
I could live with one late game a season, but not as the norm in conference play.

Wonder how much longer until we see an NFL style setup. All the games played at 2 kickoff times, except the special ones (MNF, TNF, SNF). You get the games deemed applicable to your location, and if you want the rest of them you pay a premium for over the top services.
Never, I hope.

First actual road game of the season. Will a team that seems to be light on leadership and gets off to slow starts be ready in a less friendly environment?

I am sure they will re-evaluate every season, but the Pac 12 and AD's have continually stated that this is predicated on tv times and the Pac 12 is slated for the late time spots. A game or two during the season isn't a problem to me, but I can understand frustration if its more than half the games. Unfortunately, one can whine as much as they want, Pac 12 will always have games that start at 8 or 8:30 pm, unless something drastically changes with the current tv contracts.

Unless I'm wildly mistaken, you must not have young children.
Call it whining if you want but my family simply can't make those times.

I think there's an easy solution to this. If the Pac 12 is that concerned for the students, families, etc. they'll put in a rule that says each team can only play X amount of games that start after 8pm MT/7pm MT. The bigger problem is we're losing out on prime tv spots to the Big 10 and ACC in particular....which could hurt this league if it comes down to one loss Ohio State vs. one loss Washington or USC.

Many of the voters live here in the Eastern time zone. I will be watching the game as a diehard CU fan, but I hardly doubt many other ranking decisionmakers will stay up that late.

You do realize that 46% of the AP voters and 48% of the US population live in the eastern time zone?

Writing off half of your potential audience is never a good business decision; especially when a large portion of the other half isn't exactly thrilled with the decision you're making.

Thank goodness our peers have made road trips to UNC and Rutgers to help expose the Pac-12 to east coast fans.

I realize that but my point is I don't think the Pac 12 cares.

Got to continue to commit to the run game and stop the run. That's how you beat UCLA. Wear them down while Rosen throws 50 or 60 passes.

Right. We do not want the UCLA pass rushers to be able to take over the game.

I think the question is can the UCLA defense stop ANYONE? 58 points last night......that we can add to 48 against Memphis, 44 against A&M, and 23 against Hawaii....
