LHN picked up by ATT U-verse. So good possibility of PAC-12 Network being picked up also.... just question of when
How is that a good sign for Dish customers? Looks like Dish could care less about their sports programming.

I like how the PAC acts like DTV is all to blame on this one. No where on that email from the PAC to the fans does it say that DTV won't pay the price that the PAC is asking. They make it sound like DTV just doesn't want to carry the channel at all. Not a bad strategy I suppose, I fell for it at first and it seems a lot of twitter and internet comments are going for it too.
Worst case scenario (for all those that have no chance of getting the Pac-12 Network and NEED to watch the Buffs).

Some of the streams do have annoying initial pop up ads which you cannot close till after a few seconds has elapsed. But past experience, I never had problems when I used it. I do use a popup and an ad blocker plugin on my browser.
Another alternative is vipbox.tv or the wiziwig ncaa forum (http://forum.wiziwig.eu/threads/77147-2012-NCAA-Football-Week-1-Streaming-amp-Discussion)
I used Photon. That didn't work very well. My laptop works like a champ...no crazy po*n/viagra pop ups.

After I posted what Dish told me on Twitter, I called Dish. The rep knew what the Pac 12 Networks were, unlike the other times I have called. I explained to him that I have no other options to watch Dear Old CU since CU can't stream and the Pac 12 isn't offering streaming. He said the Pac 12 wants way too much money for Dish to pick it up. We talked about 15 minutes and, while he understood my position, I'm not hopeful that it will get on Dish this season.
I told him that Direct and Dish should gang up on Pac 12 to get a deal accomplished since I have no alternatives but to go back to the olden days of radio only. That stinks.
I don't really like the .eu sites. I am concerned about viruses and viagra pop-ups.
The Dish rep tried to appease me by telling me that I get to watch tomorrow's game and this is true.

I can't blame the Pac 12 for trying to maximize the amount they get paid, but it is time to negotiate an acceptable price with the remaining carriers.

I hoping that will be next week's plan, going to Plan B (or Plan C). Pricing adjustment in exchange for more national exposure.
I also noticed, every commercial break, so far they have one or two ads vs a couple of PAC promo. More exposure more company buying ads. PAC can make up the "lower" pricing from sale of more ads.

And this is the problem... At first I was mad at the providers for not picking up all the channels of the PAC, but it is not like they are content to just make money of of commercials, the PAC wants you to pay to be able to watch those games filled with commercials.
I am sure it will be an option eventually on all the providers but I seriously doubt that you will get all the PAC12N channels on any basic level of service. Till it happens though, I am hoping it fails and the PAC is forced to find another method of expanding their brand which will hopefully be one that everyone at least in the PAC12 footprint will be able to see on a basic level of service.

Here's a post from one of the insiders on Washington's board(dawgman.com). He's generally gloom & doom over this whole deal, but I think there's some good insight into what went wrong with all this, and shows quite a bit hubris on the Pac 12's part, which makes sense.

The Pac-12 folks are shocked at how this has all unfolded.
First of all, they thought when the 4 cable companies signed on to the Network a year ago they assumed they would offer the content nationally. Hence, Larry Scotts comments about the Network being national. He told me that they never once thought the cables would limit distribution.
They thought having them on board nationally would mean that Direct would quickly jump on board. They had talked to Direct and they seemed open to the idea.
Then came the harsh reality - it all came crashing down - were his words. The cable companies to better control costs and match them to demand they didn't go national. He said many folks told Kevin Wieburg - the #2 guy at the Pac-12 and its TV guru this would happen. He didn't agree based on his work at the Big 12. Many told him the Pac-12 doesn't have the national appeal of the Big 12. In the end, they
were correct and the Pac-12 made some very costly and embarrassing decisions.
He said that the Pac-12 made a mistake that the Big 10 network didn't make - go get Direct and or Dish and everything will fall into place.
There really is no solid financial market for the regionals. The Big 10 now has 90 million people with access.
The 4 original cable companies really made it tough on Larry Scott and his aggressive plans. He told me that it could be
next year before we know if Direct will come on board. He said the Pac-12 might be smart to give the cable companies a very very low out of footprint cost so as to get a national scope to put more pressure on Direct.

Huskies home opener. First time in years that I'll be listening to the radio without TV access. $6.95 for a radio stream vs. $____ (fill in your number Larry, I'll pay it) for a live stream...
I'd pay anything to stream the Pac Network. Anything.
Larry Scott ****ed this up so far with the satellite providers. Big time choke.
This better be settled, and soon.
the mistake larry scott made was to give the cable companies the promise that the pac 12 streaming would only be available to people with a cable/sat subscription. If the pac 12 has the option to change that, and allow people to pay the pac 12 directly to stream, (especially if they can use an appletv or roku box to stream to their tv, like mlbtv) that would put the most pressure on the providers. But I don't think we can do that now.
You beat me to it. I am going to wait until the dust settles now or at least to basketball season......especially now that we are officially a basketball school!
I agree and I wouldn't pay for a stream until basketball season from either CU or the Pac 12. Pac 12 totally screwed this up. At least I can listen online to CU for free. I won't pay to listen online.
I am amazed that Pac 12 won't let the schools sell their own home games, unless they are televised as in real television not just Pac 12 Network. Big 10 schools sell streaming packages. Big 12 schools sell streaming packages.
Whoever analyzed the Pac 12 Network and who would want to watch, did a very poor job, leaving those of us not living in the West SOL. Negotiate with Dish and Direct before basketball, please. I have Roku. Negotiate with them.

I predict by Tuesday afternoon sometime after lunch many Allbuffs who don't live close enough to go to the Sac St game will become concerned that
they won't be able watch the game on t.v. because somebody is too greedy to make a deal. Yes we are sick to our stomachs due to yesterday's game but
most of us are gluttons for punishment and will want to watch the Buffs win one of their only games this year.
