Wilner: DTV deal likely before football season barring last minute snags

@DIRECTVService
@jleimer We are working hard to reach a deal with the Pac 12 Network. We will let you know if we get any updated information.

I sure hope the two sides are still talking right now... and this is not just some boilerplate response :thumbsup2:

I just got off the phone with Dish and the "programming specialist" (he was the 2nd level of customer support/retention) told me that he was just informed that they would be launching the pack 12 network on their multi-sport package in the next couple of days. He said that he wasn't sure if it would be activated by Saturday but that he was told it would launch in just days.

I asked if it included the national and the regional networks and he said he didn't know.

He may be full of crap but I'm crossing my fingers that his info was good.

I was told the same thing by Directv on Sudnay

I'll be in seattle on saturday and was going to DVR the game but it's nowhere to be found on direct tv. This sucks.

the game this saturday isn't on the p12 net--- it is on fx. you should be able to get it.

Frankly when I looked closer Comcast was a better deal for me.... Dropped DTV

I don't like that letter from the Pac 12 but have to hope that is part of the negotiating process.
I remember right before the Viacom mess was resolved both sides were posting hate towards each other.

After checking my current level of service with DTV not to mention sure access to the Pac 12, low and behold Comcast was just a better deal for me. Hope the picture quality is solid but in HD should be comparable. Tech arrives Sat although watching game elsewhere. Just can't bring myself to attend the RMS live again. Miserable college football atmosphere.... I will do a road game to make up for it! So excited to get back to Folsom with hope in my heart per the Buffs future! Easy to be excited about this season with promising young talent and real coaching. 5-6 wins is my guess for 2012 but holding out hope for 7 wins! Glass is half full this time!

One of the most bizarre situations that could occur if Direct TV and Pac-12 don't reach a deal is sports bars and restaurants that all use DirectTv boxes are going to be left without sports programming. This can't go over well.

interesting strategy for DirectTV, instead of losing subscriber for not having PAC-12 network, they lock you down for a year by dangling NFL sunday ticket

I would NEVER take NFL Sunday ticket as a tradeoff for Pac 12 Network. Probably because NFL is a distant 2nd to college football.

The network was announced more than a year ago. I am shocked at how little they've done to get the games on TV since that time.

Agreed. Larry Scott's job is to get the games/network on all available platforms. Has he done that? NO. So that means he has failed.

I don't remember DirecTV ever not having a spot for the launch of a new sports channel and here we are with no Pac 12 Network on August 30th. Ridiculous

I'd even be cool if they put PAC-12 networks on channel 1235. Just get it on my TV.

Yep. Scott is a failure. Fire his ass.

Larry Scott's job is to make sure that he maximizes profits for the Pac12 universities. Other things like exposure (in the US and international) and availability are key, but are a distant second to cashflow. This is especially true given that half of the conference is relying on a 25-30MM payday in the near future to pay for their new facilities I think he's trying to leverage the Pac12 network more than we think. Remember, this was a guy that made women's tennis a boatload and the last time I checked CFB has a much higher tv rating than women's tennis. I don't have faith he's working to make sure it'll happen sooner than later, but when playing chicken sometimes there are casualties.

back in the day we used to listen to Bob Martin and Larry Zimmer when the buffs were playing...and we weren't confined to the living room all day Saturday because you could take the radio with you wherever you were....

now we have Mark Johnson and Larry Zimmer on streaming radio worldwide...

This whole thing might just increase my weekend productivity...

If I remember correctly they didn't have altitude at first either.

Rep for a sanity and fact-based post rather than an emotional outburst.

Larry Scott is a Witch.... see below:

CROWD: A witch! A witch! A witch! We've got a witch! A witch! VILLAGER #1:
We have found a witch, might we burn her?
CROWD: Burn her! Burn!
BEDEMIR: How do you know she is a witch?
VILLAGER #2: She looks like one.
BEDEMIR: Bring her forward.
WITCH: I'm not a witch. I'm not a witch.
BEDEMIR: But you are dressed as one.
WITCH: They dressed me up like this.
CROWD: No, we didn't... no.
WITCH: And this isn't my nose, it's a false one.
BEDEMIR: Well?
VILLAGER #1: Well, we did do the nose.
BEDEMIR: The nose?
VILLAGER #1: And the hat -- but she is a witch! C
ROWD: Burn her! Witch! Witch! Burn her!
BEDEMIR: Did you dress her up like this?
CROWD: No, no... no ... yes. Yes, yes, a bit, a bit.
VILLAGER #1: She has got a wart.
BEDEMIR: What makes you think she is a witch?
VILLAGER #3: Well, she turned me into a newt.
BEDEMIR: A newt?
VILLAGER #3: I got better.
VILLAGER #2: Burn her anyway!
CROWD: Burn! Burn her!
BEDEMIR: Quiet, quiet. Quiet! There are ways of telling whether she is a witch.
CROWD: Are there? What are they?
BEDEMIR: Tell me, what do you do with witches?
VILLAGER #2: Burn! CROWD: Burn, burn them up!
BEDEMIR: And what do you burn apart from witches?
VILLAGER #1: More witches! VILLAGER #2: Wood!
BEDEMIR: So, why do witches burn? [pause]
VILLAGER #3: B--... 'cause they're made of wood...?
BEDEMIR: Good! CROWD: Oh yeah, yeah...
BEDEMIR: So, how do we tell whether she is made of wood?
VILLAGER #1: Build a bridge out of her.
BEDEMIR: Aah, but can you not also build bridges out of stone?
VILLAGER #2: Oh, yeah.
BEDEMIR: Does wood sink in water?
VILLAGER #1: No, no.
VILLAGER #2: It floats! It floats!
VILLAGER #1: Throw her into the pond!
CROWD: The pond! BEDEMIR: What
also floats in water?
VILLAGER #1: Bread!
VILLAGER #2: Apples!
VILLAGER #3: Very small rocks!
VILLAGER #1: Cider!
VILLAGER #2: Great gravy! VILLAGER #1: Cherries! VILLAGER #2: Mud! VILLAGER #3: Churches -- churches! VILLAGER #2: Lead -- lead
! ARTHUR: A duck.
CROWD: Oooh.
BEDEMIR: Exactly! So, logically...,
VILLAGER #1: If... she.. weighs the same as a duck, she's made of wood.
BEDEMIR: And therefore--?
VILLAGER #1: A witch!
CROWD: A witch!
BEDEMIR: We shall use my larger scales! [yelling]
BEDEMIR: Right, remove the supports! [whop] [crea
k] CROWD: A witch! A witch!
WITCH: It's a fair cop.
CROWD: Burn her! Burn! [yelling]
BEDEMIR: Who are you who are so wise in the ways of science?
ARTHUR: I am Arthur, King of the Britons.
BEDEMIR:My liege!
ARTHUR:Good Sir knight, will you come with me to Camelot, and join us at the Round Table?
BEDEMIR: My liege! I would be honored.
ARTHUR: What is your name?
BEDEMIR: Bedemir, my leige.
ARTHUR: Then I dub you Sir Bedemir, Knight of the Round Table.[h=4][Narrative Interlude]

Then we should burn him, I guess. He sure had me fooled. I thought he was a saviour but, alas, he is but a witch. But are witches not women? Are you telling me Larry Scott is Mary Scott? Wait, Mary, Queen of Scotts! Larry is a Queen!

I've never seen Larry Scott and Freddie Mercury in the same room at the same time. How else can you explain that?

I am pretty sure Freddie Mercury faked his death, moved to Cali and is living under his new identity.
