Colorado RPI Watch

Oregon State tried their hardest to 'Robinson it' and blow their lead at Wazzu. Beavers held on though. Oregon State improves to 13-12, 3-9. Wazzu falls to 11-14, 2-10. This is good for us since we play Oregon State twice and Wazzu only once.

Have to wonder about Ken Bone. He could have survived a down year, but at 11-14, 2-10, he might be getting the boot. However, this will actually technically be only his first losing season in 4 years in Pullman. Still, they've fallen a LONG way from the Sweet 16 days of Tony Bennett. They may recognize it's time for a change.

Didn't Wazzu have a couple players leave early for the NBA despite 2nd round grades? I think that's an indictment of Bone instead of an excuse. Bennett's players were better recruits and they got out when the opportunity presented itself.

Klay Thompson left two years ago. They were in the NIT Semifinals with us that year, which was Bone's 2nd season in charge in Pullman. There may have been another early on, but I can't recall off the top of my head

Bone at Wazzu

16-15, 6-12
22-13, 9-9 NIT Semifinals
19-18, 7-11 CBI Finals
11-14, 2-10

He may very well get another year, but considering they were coming off Bennett establishing them as a consistent NCAA Tournament team, making the Sweet 16 and Round of 32, this is quite a decline. Thank GOD Joe Harris de-committed and went to UVA with Bennett. Kid is a baller. From Chelan, WA.

CSU gave us another nice bump tonight by beating SDSU. The state of our RPI is STRONG.

Watching this Oregon / UW game...ugh...how did we lose to Washington. Does Oregon just match up better with their bigs? Really wish we could have that one back.

It's not just who you play, it's when you play them. We caught Washington when they were 3-0 in Pac-12 play and had won 7 out of 8. Maybe we took something out of them or exposed a weakness, because they've lost 7/8 since then.

Yep, Timing was the issue there. We were in our post-Arizona robbery funk still, and Washington was riding the wave of 3 straight conference road wins. That road loss pissed me off so much, because it was so dreadfully apparent how winnable of a game that was. Washington just is not good, and we blew it with an atrocious, lifeless performance. It was purely poor timing. However, I do have a feeling that Hec Edmundson may end up being 'one of those gyms' for us. It happens to every team with someone in their conference. There's just that random venue you teams have hard times winning in for whatever reason. For example, I believe Oregon always stumbles at Cal. In ACC play, Wake Forest is just that random place that UVA always seems to stumble at. Everyone has one. It's obviously too early to say with certainty that will be the case for us at Washington, but something about it has that feel to it.

Pac-12 RPI through Wednesday night

Arizona 8th
Colorado 18th
UCLA 40th
Oregon 42nd
Stanford 56th
California 59th
Arizona State 67th
Washington 82nd
USC 108th
Washington State 175th
Oregon State 176th
Utah 178th

Stanford and Cal are officially bubble teams. Arizona State has crushed their hopes with their loss at Utah tonight, their OOC schedule was simply far too weak. Cal and Stanford's remaining schedules aren't unreasonable, and Cal finally got a marquee win after winning in Tucson. If they were to follow that up with a win over UCLA, they would be a legitimate contender especially with a strong finish down the stretch very likely. There's a spot up for grabs for either Cal or Stanford to take, now that Arizona State has bowed out. I know it sounds crazy, but this bubble just became extremely weak.

USC getting in the top 100 would be a very nice boost for the hopes of the Pac getting 5 teams.

While USC in the top 100 would be nice. I would love to see Utah in the top 150. It makes our loss look better and we play them twice.

Just wanted to drop a quick thank you to Air Force for that win over UNLV last night. Zoomies' now at #65 according to real time RPI.

A CSU win is better RPI wise for CU since its in the springs, correct?

I'd rather have 2 wins over Top 50 teams than 1. Ideally, CSU doesn't implode even with an AFA loss and AFA does enough to get into the Top 50. Wyoming could get there too, which would help us.

Right now from the non-conference, there's a chance for Kansas, CSU, Baylor, AFA and Wyoming to finish Top 50. Murray State could potentially with some help if they run the table and get some help with others losing. For the Top 100, Dayton's still close to getting there. We'd like everyone else to finish Top 200. Fresno State will. Hartford should. TX-Southern is trending there. NAU has a shot but I wouldn't count on it. Wofford looks like they're falling apart and might be a lost cause.

As mentioned in the bubble watch thread,

Cal beat UCLA 76-63 in Berkeley tonight due to a crushing first half. Cal is now 15-9, 7-5 and a very legitimate contender for making the NCAA Tournament. Very much on the bubble now. The great news is that Cal is now going to be on the brink of becoming another top 50 RPI win to count for us. UCLA falls to 18-7, 8-4.

 you'll go 0-2 in the Bay Area and cry about the Pac 12 refs while doing so...

Keep drinking and cry yourself to sleep about your lack of pussy and your lack of a Pac-12 championship.

Congrats on beating the scrubs from AZ and in your confidence of a Bay Area sweep. Win an NCAA championship and then your BS may resonate with me. In the meantime, enjoy your valentines day with your right hand (and left hand if you cup your little balls).

Your team is good and will make the tourney but you'll lose again in Berkeley. I like your poodle avatar btw...

Enjoy your Valentine's Day sticking your wine bottle up your ass and drinking your pathetic self to sleep.

We don't brag about winning NCAA women's wheelchair cotillion championships. You've yet to comprehend that no one cares or respects Cal athletics. You're mediocre and soft in major sports, and everyone knows it.

We're Pac-12 Tournament champions. We're 3-1 against Cal. We're going dancing again. You lose.

Ya know ... I was just beginning to think you were the coolest opposition fan on this site.

Sorry to realize that isn't the case.

Don't mind him, he's just depressed that he's the lowest earning and longest unemployed Cal grad in human history. He's feeling cocky because his Bears just beat UCLA for the first time ever. It's tough for Cal, they're fourth fiddle of the Pac-12 teams in California.

Ah...I got to you. You've gone full Big 12 on me with your response. You never put this much effort into other troll posts. We have more dances, appearances and NCAA championships in everything compared to you. But... let's just stick to Basketball. Whoops, still have you beat! Congrats on going to the dance again. You're making up some serious ground. You'll go 0-2 in your Bay Area visit. You know this too. Still, enjoy your cocktails tonight. You earned them and this is your native board...

Cal did have a big win against UCLA, to at least put themselves in the conversation for the tourney. Still, an RPI of 58 likely isn't good enough. They desperately need to beat us to have a shot.

Of all of our remaining games, I'm probably least confident of getting a win there.
