Mack Brown reportedly stepping down

UT is such a cluster fuk. I think they're going to have a very hard time finding a replacement that satisfies their inflated self worth.

If the Texas$ AD and Booster Chiefs don't make a new coaching announcement within a week the Texas$ fans will be in a state of epic meltdown. Truck loads of Valium have been dispatched to Texas as we speak.

Don't worry, sacky.

History repeats itself.

Texas's antics have caused a conference to crumble around it with a premier traditional rival bolting for another conference. This time it was Texas A&M. Last time it was Arkansas.

They're not winning at their customary level. Leadership is changing at the Coach and AD level. Everything is in flux.

Baylor, like before, has risen to the top of UT's conference in the midst of this morass.

So you can rest easy knowing that a seemingly humbled and less frightening UT will stumble through a couple more years of mismanagement and then fix its problems by ditching its current conference.

Pac-16 in 2016.

Well the carousel just got interesting. Jimbo, no chance. Harbaugh no chance. Mora, maybe. Franklin maybe. Tomlin, well nobody roams the sideline, and a little bit of the field better, maybe. UTerus will eff this up in a way that only a hubris vexed Bevo and the gang can. This is going to be hilarious. Please, please, please go after Bo Peep. Can you imagine the entertainment of a near neanderthal anger management challenged Bo in the same room with Joe Jamail and the big cigars? Hilarity ensues.

No love for former BuffS&T coach Jeff Madden.

From the Shag:

"Fat Dog will land on his feet somewhere. There are probably dozens of programs looking to pay a bloated strength and conditioning coach 300k/year to take on an unearned faux-leadership role that players don't understand or respect, lead uncomfortable, soul-sucking, forced team chants, not police mandatory player workouts, take naps in the middle of the day, and see to it personally that there are never any leftovers at the team meals."

"HEB stock will go down with Fat Dog leaving town"

Harsh, overly so IMO.

Erm...Surveyor? Oh, never mind.

Gee, so much for the Mack Brown Stays supporters. They should have dumped him 10 years ago and hired someone who knew Good from Bad - Texas' NFL Reputation is in deservedly horrible shape, and Mack's done nothing but driven it deeper. No accounting or law professor could have survived with tenure, having turned out so many poorly-performing professionals as Mack Brown. It's no wonder the team is loaded with no-star recruits - why go to Texas and kill off the chances of learning to be a football professional?

That's always been Stoops' winning argument, and he's won far more than 60% of recruiting battles for top recruits. Congrats to him, but he's all but gone, too. Already strung up for all to see, and fewer and fewer top recruits consider his 'teaching' as their best prospect for the NFL.

Certainly there's got to be some candidates with deep Texas bred ties? None of these guys mentioned above have that. Not that I think that's all that important, but you'd think half the top candidates would be from Texas the way they brag.

I don't think you need to hire a great recruiter at Texas, but a good football coach. The talent will come. Mack Brown turned down more than a couple Heisman winners the last few years at QB. Saban was not known as a great recruiter before Alabama.

If Texas gets the hire right, they get almost instant MNC level again.

It is probabably a long shot, but I hope Graham gets the UT job. He is building a good team at ASU and has taken 2 colorado kids this class that would have been big for CU

I don't know what they are waiting on...Briles, and if they can't swing that, Malzahn.

Since there still seems to exist some residual, semi-bad blood between Briles and uTerus, I don't think he will be Macky B's replacement.

The talking heads on radio brought up one good point this morning. The candidates on their dream list (i.e., the Harbaugh's, et al) prolly see the whorns job as one where there are too many bosses. They will most likely hire from the second tier choices, and Franklin seems to be the leader in that group.
