Official 2017 Coaching Carousel Thread - Zona hires Sumlin

I think Chev is ready to be a full time OC. He's paid his dues.
Where? How? Riverside? Mentored by KK and ML? Play calling responsibilities? What OC groomed him at TT? He’s great. I love it. Big time Buff, but weak OC pedigree.

Mike Riley's time has passed. I actually wish he would move on to a really good FCS Program where he could teach and get to the playoffs and maybe win a championship. The passion and grind of FBS Division 1 is too much for him now and he cannot lead anyone to better than a .500 record.

I do not understand the issue with giving Chiv a chance to call plays and design this offense! Lindgren has done nothing for 2 years that qualifies him to continue in that position, and the best option is to determine if someone on the current staff can do it. The biggest difference is that Chiv can implement the wider line splits, quicker throws, better route trees and crossing routes, better screen game, etc...

Does Washington State have better culture, talent, facilities, and foundation than we do? They just beat USC and looked as good as them, just a step back on overall talent, but the coaching and scheming was better! Washington State has 3 super special players in the Continent on the OL, Falk at QB with 1,000 games under his belt and that little Nose Tackle that has lighting fast jump.

Gotta freshen up a few more staff members, and then it is completely on Coach Mac to take another step towards Winning Championships, instead of Building a Program. I fear that he will run away before he decides to make the moves to become a championship coach?

He's been the Co-OC here for two years. You don't think he's involved in the game plan?

I hope he’s not responsible for those game plans.

School yard. One back, two backs, I, pistol, 5 wide, 4 wide, h back, RPO, spread option, QB power counter, spread straight handoff, QB draw, reverse, pass to kicker...

Draw it in the dirt and hope it works.

Being mentored by MM and drug down by BL is not a winning pedigree for a championship OC. And Chiv knows that.

Someone translate this for me

Interesting that
One back, two backs, I, pistol, 5 wide, 4 wide, h back, RPO, spread option, QB power counter, spread straight handoff, QB draw, reverse
are considered "school yard" to you.

The fact that there is no rhyme, reason, consistency in use, nor offensive identity suggest random insanity and chaos seen in the schoolyard. So yes, BL has a schoolyard offense. #ABL

Look for him to fall to Utah State or BYU in the blink of an eye. Interested to see it unfold why a guy would walk from years of guaranteed pay? There must be a few skeletons.

Good luck with that search. That is really stupid.
Yeah... regardless of whether or not he's an Aranda creation or not, they are much better off waiting to see if Anderson is a good coach than trying to attract someone better to Corvallis. That's a tough sell- not a talent-rich state, second fiddle in the state, and apparently very high expectations.

Wonder if he'd be interested in a stint as a DC at a P12 school to rehab his image?

With the Mighty Buffs coming to town, AD must have thought this would be a good time.

Tell me more about Aranda straight killing it at LSU.
Yeah, cherry picking 6 games in his first year at LSU to back up some murky assertion that Aranda isn't as good as advertised. You're so much better than this. His defense is averaging 18 pts/game given up so far this year, though, in case you've missed it.
