CU officially hires Mel Tucker as new Head Football Coach

I like drake and would be okay with them keeping him for another year and transitioning him out next off season but tucker needs to bring in a better recruiter for that spot. OL and DL coaches are the biggest priority in this staff at this point. RG should give him a glowing recommendation and try to help him land on his feet somewhere in the AAC, Big 12 or CUSA.

We need better recruiters like everywhere.

Nah. The quick look between him and his wife when they were leaving the pools area (I think).
That was a quick acknowledgement that this was as good or better then they had hoped. At least thats what I hope that was.
I enjoyed the reactions of his two future CU grads. He said his oldest is into lacrosse. What HS in the Boulder area offers lacrosse?

My favorite? They walk by the AP National Champ trophy and Rick Says to Mel, "there's nothing like standing on top of that mountain". They both actually know the feeling of doing so.

We now have an AD and an Head Football Coach who have been part of a national championship football team. That's no small thing.

His oldest is the soccer player. His son whose a freshman this year is the lacrosse player. For Boulder County prep lacrosse, he'd want to go to Dawson School in Lafayette. Monarch in Louisville is also good.

In the video, what struck me was that as he was meeting people he had 100% of his attention on them. Particularly when it was a player. The way he introduced himself to Mo Bell using his first name and then telling him he's a hugger instead of sticking with a handshake was a nice peek into why we keep hearing that his players love him and are willing to work so hard and run through a wall for him. Players will accept discipline and being coached hard when they know the coach genuinely knows them, cares about them and has their back.
I was just about to comment on this....what struck me most about the video were two things:
1) He seemed to know Maurice Bell by name before even meeting him (unless he happened to recruit him coming out of high school....but even then).
2) He took this job with out having visited the facilities etc.....he genuinely seemed blown away by what CU has going on.

That all says to me that HCMT is 100% about people. He believed in RG and LC enough to take this job based upon them as men, and what they were telling him, and he immediately jumped into knowing who his guys are before even arriving on campus. That is ****ing outstanding in my book. We're going to win!

and his comment on the radio yesterday - "he sees his son with a football occasionally, but usually he just has a stick in his hand" freakin hilarious!

I'm assuming someone wispered Mo's name to him right before. But...he sure acted like he knew exactly who Bell was, and that is a great attribute to have.

I have watched the video like 3 times now.
His wife had a smile on her face the whole time - very proud and impressed at the same time. Happy Wife Happy Life.
RG was sure to point out the traditional uniform.
Yep. And while I'm sure that she's incredibly happy right now to see her husband achieve his dream, it's not like she hasn't seen NFL and elite CFB facilities.
