Season Tickets

Hey AllBuffs,

Long time lurker, and this is my first post (actually second, the first was a in a score prediction thread a while back).

Anyway, long story short, with what RG has done with the program and particularly the HCMT hire, I basically told my wife and kids that I'm done going to their events and AYL games on Saturdays, and then having to watch the CU game on DVR later. I'm getting season tickets once and for all, deal with it.

So I wonder if some of the experts here could give any advice on where to sit. I paid my deposit the day of the MT announcement, and this Senior Account Executive guy Jon keeps calling and I need to tell him something.

I'm looking at the best available in sections 104 to 107 on the west side, and 118 and 119 on the east side.

On one hand, I've had few experiences with my wife and kids bitching about how hot they are burning in the sun during those glorious day games in Sept and Oct. Asking why Dad couldn’t have gotten tickets over there in the shade. Bunch of ungrateful ****s.

Alternatively, on numerous occasions I've frozen my ass off sitting on the east side in the shade in November.

But that’s just weather/sun related considerations. (I was an icicle at that last Utah game and it wouldn't have mattered where I sat. And of course night games...) What other aspects should be considered? Proximity to restrooms? Gate lines? Concession lines? Different types of fans in different sections? When I go to games, it’s always random, so I don’t have a good feel overall.

TIA and my apologies if there is a thread on this already. I did try to search...

And lastly, **** Nebraska! and **** Bailer! (and **** you too, in advance)

Sincerely,
TD
first, before doing the whole marriage w/ kids deal, I was an avid concert-goer and sports-fanatic. I gave up most of those to be a husband and a dad and I don't regret a minute of it as it turns out ball games and concerts were still available when I became an empty-nester. </preaching>

second, good choice in posting on Allbuffs and becoming a season ticket holder. the waiting list is going to be long for Buffs tickets soon.

regarding weather conditions, if your family is really a bunch of Goldilockses, I still wouldn't bother trying to avoid the sun for fall day games -- there's only a small section in front of Balch that gets shade, it's usually crowded AF on hot gamedays. Further, this is only going to impact you for maybe 1 - 2 games/season (pro-tip from a college football fan who grew up in the South -- putting ice cubes in your arm pits and knee pits is a great way to lower your body temperature while sitting in the sun).

IMO, near the aisles is always a bonus b/c I drink heavily on gamedays, but I'd focus on getting as low as possible while staying in between the 20's. All else being equal, I'd pick East side for the views of the Flatirons during timeouts.

Yeah I hear what you're preaching. We'll see how it goes.

Do you know what specific sections get that shade? The family probably isn't as bad as I make it sound, I guess I just want to make sure they will have the best experience.

Seats near the aisle! Yes very important- Thanks

If you do seats near the aisle, you should be down as far as possible. Otherwise you spend all game fighting to see the game through an ever lasting parade of ****heads walking up and down the aisle.

@gobuffs58 called out 105 and that sounds right to me -- IIRC,105 and 104 were the two that offered shade during the New Hampshire game this year which was the one that I considered warmer than comfortable.

Love sec 118. Love it.

Right behind CU bench. It’s fun to be on top of the players if you get down low enough.

Ralphie run is primo. (Players don’t follow Ralphie on the visitors side)

Closer access to Franklin Field tailgating, which is fantastic.
Effortless to catch the Buff Walk.

Concessions on E side don’t involve the pit of misery that is Balch Fieldhouse and it’s toilets.

I prefer E side amenities, which has everything, is open air and sometimes includes access to the Club level depending on your circle of friends.

Looking at Flatiron Club and retired numbers is > looking at the glass wall and gray slabs that house the Club Seats.

Easier access to rooftop before game and/or at halftime.

Right next to the student section and the energy that goes with it.

Views of the Flatirons, which is overrated during the game, but awesome when entering the stadium.

I wouldn’t consider the sun or heat a drawback. @ 5300 feet in Sept is mild compared to many of parts of the country. Wear sunglasses and a hat and all’s good. Some warm sun can be really nice in November, too.

Those on the W side are awesome. But the E side is where it’s at.

I do NOT like sitting anywhere near the visiting fan section.

You guys make me want to get seats on that side but $115+ a game is pretty damn pricey. That’s more than my Broncos tickets cost.

Maybe this will help.

It’s impossible to launch piss balloons and hit Nebraska fans all the way from Sec 118.

Buff Nation calls on the W side to do important work upholding CU’s reputation when aNUs comes to town.

Time to get rid of your Bronco tickets then. Broncos games suck anyway.

Lol I disagree but they’ve also been in my family since 1960. Most people can’t get 2, I have 8. I’d kick myself if I didn’t have them.

I didn’t think of this. I’ll sleep on it but if I don’t move I promise to make you all proud.

Got a call late yesterday from Marcus Palas in the Buff Club, wanting to update me on changes to season tickets and parking. Called him back today and left a message. Anyone know what the changes are?

Pretty much doubling parking prices from what I've been seeing on the 247 board.

Like per game prices or donation requirements? I could handle the per game, but would suck if they change the donation amount. With the tax law the way it is, just limits the amount I can have matched.

Donation. But they are telling people that the donation law change was specific to tickets and that parking is still deductible. I don't know personally, just parroting what I read.

The games I go to I am usually up high in the cheap seats unless I happen to migrate down but the earlier advice is good.

East side is a much better atmosphere, much more energy.

If comfort is a concern the West side is better. Early season games the sun on the east can be very strong, can get hot enough to be unpleasant. West side give you shade. In cold weather games that added sun on the east isn't much of a factor. Seems like the configuration of Balch results in a lot less wind making the cold much easier to deal with, also is they get cold they can slip inside and get out of the wind entirely.

I sit right on an aisle, this was never a big deal until this year with stadium-wide beer sales (aside from people standing at the stairs at the bottom looking for their friends). Now it is a disaster. People up and down all game, I think they just use Folsom as an expensive outdoor bar.

Moved last season from section 118 over to Touchdown Club. The game is entirely different from that perspective. For every plus there is a minus but I do miss not being behind the CU bench and I now appreciate the short bar lines and food.

Finally talked to Mr. Palas this morning. Season ticket costs are going up about 5%, but the big change is in parking. They are increasing the minimum total contribution level to get into the IPF garage from $1000 to $5000. Email will be going out in early January. He said it was due to demand and that the total includes what you give for tickets, so if you give $2000 now, you have to bump another $3000 to keep your parking spot, but anything above the ticket contribution should be fully tax deductible.

Have you ever been to Coors field? Same thing. The rooftop was created just to get young people out there to and to spend money on what’s the biggest money maker, alcohol. Nobody ever cares about the game. It personally bugs me but if the team is better off, oh well. Rick George didn’t bring back alcohol out of the goodness of his heart, it’s all about money.

Wonder how that will go over, that’s a sizable jump. But, it supports the team so hopefully nobody complains.

I’m considering club seats...pricey, but I value the comfort not having bleacher seats, short bathroom/beer/food lines, and indoor facilities to retreat to during breaks. Anybody have any input on these and the pros/cons on each club location?

Just some input which echoes what others have mentioned. If you are sitting on either side, meaning not in the end zone, sitting near an aisle can be maddening. People walk up and down all game long and block your view depending where the play on the field is happening. If you want to sit on an aisle, your best bet is to sit near a goal line and sit in the section that is towards the middle of the field. Thus, the aisle traffic is never blocking your view.

I sit in the SE corner (212). Since I am basically at a 45 degree view the entire field gets blocked by someone. Has never been an issue for me until this year because foot traffic was never so bad.

Well no email on tickets/parking yet, but the new ticket pricing / contribution amount is up on cubuffs.com. Looks like increases in both prices and contributions. Tier 1 going from $835 per seat to $900 per seat, touchdown (Arrow) and Champions (Crawford) clubs going from $900 to $1150. Couldn't find anything out on parking yet.
