Prioritize your staff changes for 2022

If Chev is on this staff in 2022, in any capacity, unless he absolutely goes on a recruiting rampage, I think I’m done. We need to cut bait on him. He’s not a good WR coach, and he’s a horrible OC. Period.
 
There are a lot of excuses to be made (including some valid ones) about why this program is where it is, but none of them contextualize how awful the offense was for most of the season. When you go entire halves of football without first downs, let alone points, your coaching staff on that side of the football flat out sucks. Full stop.

And offense is supposed to be their "specialty". 3 people who have been OC at the P5 level. This isn't a Defensive staff that just didn't care about offense, this was a staff that was just flat out awful at their job.

I'll evaluate now... My conclusion- chev should've been fired after Minnesota. I hope my follow-up research doesn't lead me farther down the fire Dorrell rabbit hole than I already am

If Chev would be able to embrace it (it's a big ask), I'd be ok with him staying next year as a WR Coach & re-focused on recruiting. He's got 1 year left on a 3-year deal. $600k in dead money limits what can be done with OC/QB/OL.

If Bread’s scoop is correct, several WRs don’t want him back. He doesn’t have a track record for improving WR play. And we all know he won’t handle a demotion well. So unless he gets recruiting religion and goes back to being a demon on the trail, bring in top flight talent, then I say we spend that money on somebody else.

Chev at $600k for 2022 whether he coaches or not.

Cook's also got another year on his contract at $200k.

The rest is clear of dead money on O.

On D, Wilson's $600k this coming year & $650k in 2023.

Smith has another year at $210k, but no one else is guaranteed for 2022.

It's hard to absorb that $600k.

I do get that it’s hard to absorb $600k. But we all agree that there is no way he can come back as OC, and it’s harder to absorb a childish, undermining force in the offensive coaches room.

Not to mention the DL mostly consists of tubs of goo. Terribly out of shape.

I can give you several reasons why I don't support firing Dorrell now: LSU, USC, Washington, Florida, and Virginia Tech. All of those jobs are more attractive than ours are. That's the only reason why I'm not on the fire Dorrell wagon right now. This team was the second worst team I've seen at CU (2012 obviously takes the cake-and I wasn't alive for Fairbanks/Early McCartney). Need an overhaul of the offensive staff-about the only two I'm open to talking about staying are Vlachos and Hagan. Chev and Langsdorf need to be canned now.
 
OC. Seriously this is our only hope. system guy that brings in his own OL and WR and RB or whatever he wants (assume it’s OC/QB thing) if it’s Langsdorf I’m done.

I would only keep Vlachos if no other better option opens up. Although the immediate improvement was apparent I am not sure he is the answer. Really would prefer that an OC is hired first and then they hire a proven OL that has experience with that style of offense.

I could get behind this-or shifting him back into a QC role. I kind of look at those two as the only two guys who didn't have their units turn into total ****ing dumpster fires this year.

That's a damn tough reality pill to swallow, but if HCKD doesn't swallow it and do something drastic we're doomed for another 5-7 years.

Oh come on. You don't remember CU letting Texas score 70 points. Going by recent history. Both Hawkins and Embree teams were worse. I saw players give up in games. We were been rolled up every week by 35 plus Poihts.
