2018 Rocky Mountain Showdown (8/31)

Does anyone know if there is a good CU bar in Breckenridge?
There are some good sports bars in the area (Downstairs at Eric's, Ollie's, etc.). Pac 12 network is available via Comcast in Summit County. I don't think many have Directv, which is actually a plus in this case.

Here is a random list of 10 - there are more that would be options for you.

DO call ahead.

Yeah I searched and found that list as well. Ollie's looks like a possibility. The Showdown is actually on CBS Sports Network, so I don't think there should be an issue with getting it, I just didn't know if there was an actual CU bar up there. I'll be with my (soon-to-be) father in law, who is a big Badgers fan, and they play around the same time as the Buffs, so just trying to find a good spot with a bunch of TVs.

Saw the Rammie scrimmage Saturday. Carta-Samuels is their QB and it's not much of a competition IMO. Warren Jackson is freakishly tall, but too skinny. They're going to run it 100 times with a handful of backs. Defense looked better than last year, but not great. Montez can get them over the top. KJCS hit Bisi Johnson on a deep ball, corner end zone, no coverage. Get open Viska.

It won't be as lopsided as 2016, but it will be a 2-3 TD margin in favor of the Buffs. That -6 spread is easy money

Think the CSU running game is going to be a decent test out of the gate.
This is the single quickest way to turn my Kool-Aid to arsenic.

Somewhat unrelated, but the last time they beat us, that is how they did it. That little transfer from Alabama running off guard untouched to the second level the entire second half.

Thanks, Duff Man! (j/k)

You are giving me the heebie jeebies, remembering that, along with their Center doing his little "get your horns out" hand gesture before every snap, and then running it down our throats.

It's a game we should win every damn time imho. That said, it's not a good idea to overlook these peckerwoods. Come in ready and whip their ass. It's their damn Super Bowl so they'll treat it as just that.

Csu will come in more fired up after the penalty fiasco, they feel they got hosed. They have two legit wr's and rb's. OL isn't great and don't know much about hill or samuels. Their defense shouldn't be a concern.

Well I’m convinced.
OK, let me put it this way. Their starting center is a returning starter....or so they say. Total starts, 5 games. Also, he has short arms and this will hurt him going against a bigger, stronger, faster player. He doesn't have a chance against Edwards without lots of help.
Their starting Right Guard and Starting Left Guard are returning starters.....or so they say. Total starts, 3 games each. Neither excelled in the starts they did have.
Their starting right tackle, Ben Knox, is a monster and can flat out play. But the game against CU will be only his second at the D1 level. By year end he will be great, but in game two, expect major mistakes.
Their starting left tackle is TJ Roundtree, a guy who played at Louisville, but wasn't even good enough to make the two deep there last year. Like their right tackle, his start against CU will be the second of his career and given his limitations. He will be in big trouble all year long.

CSU's defensive line was pretty terrible last year.....at CSU's scrimmage the offensive and defensive lines were roughly equal....in this case equally bad.
CU is going to win this game going away.
Now everyone, please focus on the game that matters.

That’s not a very good blocking stance.

I think CU wins comfortably, but to outright dismiss CSU's rushing attack seems a little silly.
Last year CSU had 101 yards on 29 attempts. That excludes sacks on Stevens. Good for a 3.5 average. All against a terrible defensive line.

What about their running attack is projected to be better? Honest question, I don't follow the sheep.

...and their "****ty o-line"
...and their "****ty, inexperienced qb"
...and their "****ty inexperienced TE"
Happens every year.

They might have the best RBs on the field.

Boddie seems to be legit and will be a handful. It also seems like their wr’s have some good size and athleticism. I think it really comes down to Samuels. Nothing else really worries me.

Not that this isn’t normal, but their fans are going to be extra hostile. I still have relatives and friends who truly think the game last year was fixed.

Boddie and McMillion probably equal each other out but think CSU probably has better proven depth at this point
McMillian had a 1,000+ yard rushing season and had 2,153 yards in 3 years in the ACC, which is 38 yards fewer than both Matthews and Boddie have in their Mountain West careers, combined. I think CU has the most talented and proven RB between the two programs, hands down. The depth may be in CSU's favor, but only because Boddie has seen playing time and Fontenot hasn't... There isn't a position on the field where CSU truly has the edge in talent over CU.
