I hear what you’re saying, but when the “other credentialed media” include brainiacs like Mark Kizla who have agendas, you have to do what you can to craft the message. It sucks, but that’s what we have devolved into.

Nah, that is a really bad excuse.

The CU beat is a small group. Mark Kizla is not going to be up in Boulder day after day paying attention to the Buffs. We are talking maybe 3-4 people at most on a consistent basis, so there is no reason to bar them from practices. Crafting the message my ass.

Well, if you think CU has had a good relationship with the media, and has gotten positive coverage as a result, I’m not sure what to say. I used Kizla as an example, but John Henderson was the CU beat writer if I remember correctly. That was a disaster. I don’t like it, but I understand it.

Put differently: if there weren’t problems with the coverage, they wouldn’t have the need to do what they did.

While some coverage over the years has been grossly unfair, just putting a lid on all external coverage and producing puff pieces in-house is weak and small-time.

On a typical day, there will be five people at most at practices, so stop being so scared of what they might say.

Why do we want a message crafted? That's the whole point. I also don't think Adam and the few other media guys who'd be there day in, day out would be overly critical or anything.
 
Oh man, he's so good at being boring. Not a single piece of specific info from the scrum. The spring and fall camps are gonna suck.
