'12 NJ CB Yuri Wright (Signed to Colorado)

Thanks for posting this Buffnik, because this thread of late honestly psst me off. At the beginning of the season, everyone is dogging Brown as a coach and recruiter, which while warranted to a degree, also went overboard by a few in my opinion. But whatever...coaches deserve scrutiny. Then, select posters are in love with our DB recruiting, and Yuri was the cornerstone. Then, Yuri tweets that he was bored, and people get down on him?!?! Please...some fans talk about the fickle-nature of recruits...well at least they're 18 year olds deciding on a huge fork in the road, whereas most of us are at least in our 20s...and we as a whole can be more fickle.

Yuri Wright is a great CB, and those that think we don't need him are delusional in my opinion. The team as a whole needs a good unfusion of talent, and this kid is extremely talented.

As for his tweet though - I'm surprised more people didn't come down on the staff as opposed to coming down on the kid. I was annoyed to read that Yuri was bored. I can understand if he didn't have a good time, or wasn't impressed - CU isn't for everyone. However - BORED?! I feel that boredom easily can be avoided by proper planning by the staff and host player(s). Best of luck to Yuri, wherever he goes.

oooo! ooooo! I criticized the staff! Can I get a sticker?

I think "unfusion" of talent is the perfect description for what the last staff tended to produce. I'm hoping for better now.

And I think hoping for better is the explanation for how some people reacted to Yuri's tweet. A lot of us had high hopes for his visit. He's a big time talent that our chances were looking good with. People were thinking more in terms of a "Gonna be a Buff" tweet from him, and when basically all he had to say was "Colorado was ok, but I was bored", I think there was some venting of disappointment in the wrong direction. Either that, or we just have a bunch of assholes around here...

Someone needs to tell Embree to not have the recruits hang out with tini during recruiting visits. Trolling message boards on a Sat night is pretty boring for 18 year olds. :smile2:

I agree with Nik here. Looking at all of these kids' twitters and facebooks will just make you crazy. They are making crazy difficult decisions and im sure Yuri knows that CU isnt boring. I think we have a real shot here. Despite all of the negative chatter from his tweets there is just as much positive chatter. Sit back relax and watch him be a buff!

Good advice from the Noob. Soak it up.

:rofl:sorry, tini, people pile on you way too much, but that's funny.

Btw, folks, Yuri is messing with us!! He had a great time. With his friends T Jones and T Smith in Boulder (not to mention super recruiter S Harrington) I can't imagine that he was bored.

If you're tellin' us straight up, and your info is first hand, you deserve a landslide of rep.

If not, you still deserve rep -- delivered with a sledge hammer.

Hmm I was actually taking a final Saturday night, thanks for thinking of me though.

No inside info, sorry. I stand by the statement, though. I'm certain Yuri's just messing with people. He has good friends in Boulder so I don't think he'd publicly call them out by saying he was bored unless he's just messing with us. Of course, I could be way off. *bracing for sledge hammer impact*

Ka Whaaaammmmmmm

It's very easy to over-react on a recruiting message board. Every word, positive or negative, is magnified in direct proportion to the perceived skill level of the recruit in question. We've been down for so long, that now that it seems there's a glimmer of hope, we all have very fragile phyches.

I think Embree may need to reconsider scheduling a big recruiting weekend during finals:

“I wish they would have picked a different weekend for me to come out there, but I still had a good time for the most part. I know it’s a good school.”

Even if we end up landing a bunch of guys from this past weekend, the fact remains that it didn't allow us to present things as well as we can.

Yeah that was a big recruiting blunder.

So you hate Allbuffs now?

Yeah? You also think people were serious when they said we didn't really want Yuri.

At the risk of igniting another flame war between the two boards, here's one more reason to hope we get Yuri. Brian, the (very good) blogger at Mgoblog.com made the following bet:

The lemon bet. A few weeks ago Mike Farrell tweeted that Yuri Wright's top two were Colorado and Michigan, to which I responded that I would eat a lemon and put it on the internet if Michigan lost Wright to CU*. I'd rather have a super athletic, if raw, corner than do this, so this quote($) from his trip to Boulder is a relief:
“I wish they would have picked a different weekend [ie, not finals] for me to come out there, but I still had a good time for the most part. I know it’s a good school.”
A small relief. I mean, I'll believe a guy with options like Michigan and Notre Dame going to Colorado several years after I see it.

*[FINE PRINT: Lemon will be consumed if Wright ends up signing with Colorado AND Michigan is still pursuing him at the time of his commitment. If M picks up Armani Reeves and stops going after corners, bet is void. To prevent this from being weaselly, this will have to be a direct quote to that effect or something from Sam Webb.]

Brian, ever hear of Ryan Miller? Screw this jerk. CU is every damned bit as good as either one of those schools. Hell, its BETTER!

He would eat a lemon? Is this guy from Utah? I think we should force feed him dog **** regardless of the outcome.

I'm not falling for that one again.

Hilarious, they are one season removed from their disaster, now holier than thou.

I refer you to BB's facetious comment about us not wanting him if he goes elsewhere. Same holds true for Michigan.

BTW being reported on 2 sub services that Yuri's in-home with Embree was today! Not a lot of info on what went down though.

Michigan is running out of room, that's why the lemon eater qualified his statement. FWIW, The thoughts on the Michigan boards is that if he doesn't verbal to them in the next couple of weeks, they will move on to other players.
