2017 Season Hype/Countdown Thread

26. Drew Lewis, LB, Colorado

The Buffaloes’ cornerback Isaiah Oliver is a pretty good candidate for this list too as he excels for the Colorado track team, but I’m going with their 6’2”, 220-pound inside linebacker. This spring Lewis broad jumped 10’10”, which is better than any linebacker did at this year’s NFL combine. He also power cleaned 345, second-most on the entire team, and squatted 435 for six reps. Lewis has quite the pedigree. His dad, Will, played CB in the NFL and CFL and is now the director of scouting for the Kansas City Chiefs. His uncle, Tim, was a standout DB at Pitt who was a first-round pick by the Green Bay Packers. Drew’s older brother Ryan is a cornerback at Pitt now. He also has three cousins who played football at Pitt, including former NFL DB-turned-front office man-turned-ESPN analyst Louis Riddick.

Going to need Montez to stay healthy. We have basically zero experience behind him with Noyer being coming of his RS Fr. year. The only other scholarship QB is Lytle but I really want to see us getting into the routine of giving our QBs that RS year. If either Montez or Noyer miss a lot of time we better hope that one of the walk-ons can step up and fill in. Keep hearing Marksbury's name in this roll, hope we don't need to find out.

If Montez or Noyer miss a lot of time, Lytle needs to play. You are still trying to convince yourself that Sefo had his development dramatically and unnecessarily stunted by playing as a true freshman.

Having seen him play locally in Orange County, I like Lytle a lot. He passes the eyeball test, to say the least. He graduated early from a fairly rigorous academic high school, got on campus in January, and was even helpful with the recruiting within his own class. It would be good if the Buffs could redshirt him, though.

Why the heck was #19 a Utah return for 90 yards???
Yeah, they seemed to just go game by game and the biggest plays from each. IIRC, that hustle by Chido either forced them into a FG attempt or maybe we got a stop? But either way, that kind of "Top Plays from 2016" had a lot of potential to be put together and count down to the best play of the year.

That effort by Chido prevented a TD. Utes came up with only 3 points in the series after. It turned out to be fairly critical later.

Most exciting thing about bobo is his yac yardage if someone can hit him in stride this year, he has an attitude about him.

How is everyone feeling about the new Buffs DL players? Especially Edwards and Mulumba? After looking at the experience level of the back seven, I'm not quite as worried in that regard and the only concern I have is the DL. That could be the difference between just another bowl game and another trip to Santa Clara to the Pac-12 CCG.
