If teo is an innocent victim of a hoax then I feel bad for him. He's clearly lacking in life experience. Crazy.

Some of my favorite lines so far (none of them mine):

"We're still not convinced Manti Teo exists." -- Alabama Running Backs

"He wasn't missing tackles in the BCS championship game, he was just hugging his imaginary girlfriend"

"The next ESPN 30 for 30: No Dame"

The best one was from JA Adonde (I think):
"At the combine Jeff Ireland will ask Teo if his dead girlfriend was a whore"

All from a fake Jadeveon Clowney twitter:

@JadeveonClowny: "real recognizes real" -Not Manti Teo

@JadeveonClowny: I make up dead girlfriends sometimes screaming "ayyyoooo I'm Manti Te'o"

@JadeveonClowny: If you having girl problems I feel bad for you son Manti Teo has 99 problems but a girl ain't one.

@JadeveonClowny: Manti teo is the biggest definition of thirsty.

@JadeveonClowny: I wonder how weird that girl that Manti used for pictures feels right now.

@JadeveonClowny: Manti teo should have just gone the tebow route and admitted he was a virgin.

@JadeveonClowny: So Manti teo is gonna be on catfish now?

@JadeveonClowny: Manti teo probably wont get that eharmony endorsement now

@JadeveonClowny: You wanna know what's weirder than Manti Teo making up a girlfriend then pretend killing her? Nothing.

So, I heard his "dead GF" is going to issue a statement via Twitter. Is that true?

Deadspin's got a small update with some accounts from ND player.

http://deadspin.com/5976762/manti-teos-teammates-had-their-doubts-about-lennay-kekua

They cite this paragraph from Campus Spun which I think makes sense as a theory:

The debate among teammates wasn't whether or not Manti actually knew this
girl - it was clear that they had been in contact; no, players just didn't think
that it was fair to call Lennay Kekua Manti's girlfriend, period (it is
well-known on campus that he has had relations with other girls during his time
at Notre Dame). They recognized what was going on for what it was - a terrible
publicity stunt used to fuel Manti Te'o's Heisman campaign. In fact, many of the
players privately commented that they didn't want the students to wear leis in
support of Manti and wouldn't participate themselves - they cited that the team
never responded so publicly to tragic events for other players. But there was
also the feeling that Manti didn't deserve to benefit from publicity from the
death of somebody he barely knew.

Was this business involving this girl actually public knowledge? I had never heard of her before this deadspin thing came up.

Notre Dame played here in Norman this year, after this girl allegedly died, and I don't remember it ever being brought up, then.

Yesterday I found out a girl I never knew existed didn't actually exist. That is some deeply, heavy stuff right there.
