Bowl projections

I've always been fascinated by your impressions of the Pac--especially the dominant team. Who do you think is going to beat Washington?

They could very easily lose any of the remaining games on their schedule with the exception of the home game with ASU. The games at Utah and WSU will certainly be very tough in hostile environments and USC has gotten things together. How do I think the game at Cal could possibly be a loss? Just think back to Ohio State against PSU last Saturday night, not many people saw that one coming either.

Washington's schedule has been weak up to this point, at best. Their non-conference schedule was a joke and they needed OT to beat one of the 2 or 3 worst teams in the conference. They made their big jump when they routed Stanford but the Cardinal have turned out to be a mediocre team who only beat a bad ND team because Kizer gifted them 2 turnovers when otherwise they were not coming back on their own. And for a point of reference, Duke won in South Bend too.

SEC has 10 bowl agreements (Playoff, Citrus, Outback, Gator, Music City, Texas, Belk, Liberty, Birmingham, Independence)

B1G has 10 bowl agreements (Playoff, Holiday, Citrus, Outback, Pinstripe, Music City, Foster Farms, Quick Lane, Heart of Dallas rotates with ACC)

ACC has 9 bowl agreements (Playoff, Russell Athletic, Gator/Music City rotates, Belk, Sun, Pinstripe, Military, Independence, Quick Lane, St. Petersburg if others can't fill slot, Birmingham if others can't fill slot)

Pac12 has 7 bowl agreements (Playoff, Alamo, Holiday, Foster Farms, Sun, Las Vegas, Cactus)

Big XII has 7 bowl agreements (Playoff, Alamo, Russell Athletic, Texas, Liberty, Cactus, Armed Forces)

Of the power 5, only the Big XII arguably has it worse. Even the freaking American Athletic has 8 bids and C-USA 7

Sure, ACC, B1G and SEC have more teams, but it seems we're a decent bowl short (and no Pac/SEC bowl is a glaring absence). We'll be having to send a team or two to a non-allotted location. I suppose that's not all that bad as it can open up some opportunities to unique bowls, but we should have an 8th bowl if some other power conferences have 10.

Totally agree we need one more bowl, we have the same amount as the Big-12 despite having 2 more teams. Can we agree though that the destinations we have are clearly the best though? Outside of El Paso, every destination is awesome. Clearly need one in Houston or Dallas against the SEC though.

Like that idea.

Ok. The town of El Paso kind of sucks. But that's not a terrible Bowl destination for the outdoorsy type. It's relatively close to White Sands, Carlsbad Caverns, Guadalupe NP (good time of year climb the highest mountain in Texas, 8,751), Hueco Tanks, and within striking distance of Big Bend, NP which is a fantastic place to mountain bike in Dec-Jan. Ruidoso and Ski Apache might even be open. Also treks to check out Anasazi sites, soak in hot springs, and the quirky bohemian town of Marta. There's more stuff to do than there is time.

The daytime weather will be pleasant and they is some good hikes just outside the city, but the city has very little to offer in terms of nightlife. It's the kind of town where you grab dinner at Chili's and then head back to the Holliday Inn.

night time would find me at Rosa's Cantina

Can we automatically ban people who write loose?
I like to write loose; just like it's better to play loose than to play tight, my writing is better when I write loose than when I start thinking about how to spell every word.

But I still question the education and intelligence of people who misspell "lose."

Bunch of loosers.

In one of their concerts I saw, the Dead played a very cool version of "El Paso" with Bobby Weir singing and Jerry playing a bat s.hit elegant "Jerry solo'.

What the PAC-12 needs is a P5 opponent for the Las Vegas Bowl with that game moving to New Year's week and paying a much bigger appearance fee. I expect that to happen once the new stadium opens.
Bring an ACC or SEC team. Sure it is out west and out of their standard footprint but it is a travel destination for just about everyone. Would be very nice.

Am I right in thinking we could go 11-2 and still have the Alamo Bowl if UW is 12-1 as #1 in the PAC?

was it one of the rare occasions that Bobby got the lyrics right? "I picked a good one, it looked like he could run" vs "I picked a good one, it looked like a good one"

Nope. P12 Champ goes to the Rose Bowl if not invited to playoff.
and in that scenario, if UW wins the P12CG but misses the playoffs, and then gets the Rose Bowl, wouldn't Colorado (assuming we're the South champs), most likely get invited to the Alamo?

No because in that scenario, CU is 11-2 and UW is 12-1. Meaning CU beat them in the P12CG and would hold the head to head tiebreaker.
