FWIW, Jay Johnson cleaned up his following list and he unfollowed David Baldwin, so doesn't seem like a target. The only two 2019 QBs he kept were Lance LeGendre and Jabari Blake but that all may be reading too much into things. LeGendre would be an interesting one if we could get a visit. He obviously kept the 2020+ guys and the Georgia QBs.

LeGendre would be insane. The big domino with the QBs who are left seems to be what direction Florida State decides to go. Their direction may have adjusted now, too, with the hiring of Kendal Briles.

A reminder for folks that while we've got little idea of what our younger QBs can do, the new staff has been watching practice tape and evaluating each player. I'd be pretty sure that Jay Johnson has watched tons of tape of Lytle and Stenstrom (as well as the others) to fully understand what he has, and how that fits whatever he wants to do.

Any news on why he hasn't made visits? Or has he and they don't show as reported on 247?

I saw the DeWeaver stuff a few weeks ago with some people and wondered could he be a target. He had a pretty good year and was a big recruit out of Ohio in HS.

How many spots do we have to offer? I have us at 85 scholarships with Bounds and Polley excluded, and Luckett included. I read some rumblings Shamar Hamilton may not be back, but he's still on the official roster:

Luckett didn't sign so take him off your list. You forgot JT Bale so add him on.
Bounds and Hamilton were not on the signing day roster so take them off. Polley has been off the roster for a long time.
And then there is the question of Sam Loy.
So we're at 84 or 85 currently. We can sign up to 8 more on Feb 6 to reach the 25/year limit. Attrition should be easy as these aren't MT's guys and there are easily a dozen qualified candidates.

Id like to see them take:
1 RB - need a starter like McMillian, so go grad xfer if need be
1 TE - either of the 2 listed above
1 OT - NO MORE PROJECTS please, gotta be legit
2 DT - if their names are Poialli and Lockhart
1 OLB - either Parker or Nomura
2 S - Hill and Chapman, maybe even 1 more if any of the above don't pan out

Take Tarik Luckett only if there is a spot open when all done.

Only taking 1 WR is probably not happening

Luckett was not expected to sign last week, why would you take him off the list?

And taking two more DTs makes zero sense (Lockhart is NOT a DT).

Lockhart will be 5 technique before too long. That's even better though, he could come in and play the WDE/OLB before he grows.

Why prioritize WR when we're shifting the focus of the offense? I'd argue no more offensive players except to fill the gaping holes at TE and OT.

Is another WR more of a priority than the rest of these positions?

Even in a shifting offense, taking one WR is suspect. That is not "prioritizing" the position if you take two.

One could argue, and I think it is being argued, that we don’t need to prioritize the WR position this year. I, personally, am not of the opinion that we release Luckett, but I could understand the argument. If we go from a standard formation of three to four wides to a standard formation of two to three wides, we need fewer WRs on the team. There really are quite a few on the team already and there aren’t many, if any, contributing upcoming seniors this year - maybe Tony Brown.

I think you can safely project Shenault declaring after this season. So if you do not sign another WR in this class, that leaves seven before any 2020 signees are factored in. That is not so much that they can be treated as a luxury. Also, we are not exactly loaded with outside receivers.

what's going on with the punter transfer from I believe Vanderbilt? I know Kinney's injury and likely return next year was not expected, but still...didn't the Vandy punter sign papers, so he was at CU this last year, expecting to play on the team next season on schollie???

Taking two WRs is the minimum for every recruiting class. After the 2019 season, Brown and Viska are gone, leaving the WR group as followed: KD, Jackson, Bell, Arias, Thomas, and Huffman Dixon. You can throw in Stanley there as well I guess, but he's listed as an Athlete and I'm wondering if MT is going to want to give him a look in the Secondary. Regardless, that's 6-7 scholarship guys in a group that probably needs 8-9 at all times when you account for attrition, injuries, etc.

One to watch: Cameron Rising, a blue chip QB from Ventura CA who signed with Texas last year, is transferring from Texas. Chev and Huffman-Dixon following. Worth keeping an eye on it to see if Jay Johnson starts following. h/t @Buff fanatic

Can't help but think of Connor Wood with this talk. Unfair, I know, but I've been a Buff fan for too long...lol...

I don't think it is an either or situation with the WR position. If MT feels he needs more numbers at another offensive position, then he will make it happen. A good way to get yourself in situations we have seen in the past is to lightly recruit a position for a year or two.

Just one man’s opinion, but Stanley is definitely a WR. He has quicks and moves that will be potent when the time comes.
