We love Chev because he is one of us, but no one is probably beating down the walls for him. Els wasn't anything until Bo Pelini did a bad job of hiring coaches as well and his background shows it. Listen. I trust Tucker to do the right thing, just not letting my Colorado homerism get in the way of acknowledging that our staff could be better, TSchek
Nobody is suggesting that the staff couldn't be upgraded. You said it wasn't a veteran P5 staff and most of the staff does, in fact, have a decent amount of P5 experience. This 10 year P5 staff qualifier seems pretty arbitrary.

With a good 1-2 years, Els is in line to be a DC (running the Saban/Smart/Tucker defense). His results here on ST's speaks for itself. Very cerebral guy who will be in a very good position to sell his new knowledge of this defense in the near future.

Chev got the new title for a reason. Elite WR coach and recruiter.

Will also mention that Summers results as the DC in Fort Collins produced their best results in a decade.

The DP or BDC did a piece on the friendship between Bobo and Summers-can't compare their defense in 2015 to the one we're going to run this year. Summers ran a UCF/George O'Leary type of D at CSU, and he's going to be running Mel's defense here.

Pretty sure I'd consider Chip, Whittingham and Tucker all veterans.

You stated that a veteran P5 coach had 10 years or more of coaching at a quality P5 school. I didn’t count Tucker’s GA years so he doesn’t qualify. Kelly has about 6-7 years between UO/UCLA and Utah didn’t join the PAC-12 till 2012 so Wittingham only has about 6 years.

Tucker's decade in the NFL more than makes up for this.

I know it's been several years since Summers was on Bobo's staff, but I don't think it's being acknowledged enough that Summers has an intimate understanding of Bobo's offense and that could be yet another advantage CU has in this game. Certainly could smooth over any first game miscues with a lot of young guys.

Won't affect players knowing their jobs, but knowing tendencies sure couldn't hurt play calling.

I've got tickets to the game tomorrow (Thanks PhillyBuff!) and I'm super pumped about it. I've never actually been to a game before, and I was pretty hyped to just order a pizza and watch this from my couch, but now? I'm bleeding black and gold everywhere.
never been to a RMS or never been to a CU game in person period? Either way, enjoy!!

I've never been to a game period. I've been meaning to, but I was always teaching and it's all I could do to have time to watch football on TV let alone drive to Boulder. Now that I've changed careers it's a little easier to get away.

Enjoy man. You get to Folsom this fall I'll buy you a beer.

Chev just on Altitude 92.5. I caught the end. I did not realize his dad was in a rock band that recorded a song that is one of the tunes played in “Pulp Fiction.” And since the soundtrack went platinum, Chev’s dad and his band are on a platinum selling album.

Now there is some Chiv triv for ya.

Enjoy. And here's to a big CU win and a successful start of the MT era.
