Not so fast, my friend ... (was: P12 finalizing details ....)

I have to admit that is is kind of a brilliant move on the ACC's part. They are destroying ND's Big East and saying hey why don't you just join us while further dangling the Big East with Uconn and Rutgers. The B1G looks far less attractive now to ND because of the population demographics vs the ACC. Will be interesting to watch.

Wow. Just wow. Shocked by that. WVU has got to end up somewhere right? Do they just bring nothing TV wise?

Plus, WVU is kind of a safety school for kids who aren't sure that KSU will accept them. Beyond that, the program isn't exactly clean.

This is worth taking a quick peek at. Great humor concerning realignment. The one about Benson made me snort.

Racist.

Lots of smoke that both the SEC and ACC rejected West Virginia

I don't get this one at all. Who does the SEC think they're going to get to go to 16 if the ACC just drastically increased their buyout. Unless that is a case where the schools have "agreed" but not signed anything yet like last year with the WAC.

I also guess Virginia and Virginia Tech might not be overly happy at the prospect of having a third team from their state in their conference.

Let's think about this for a second.

SEC rejects WVU. This promotes a couple of ideas: first, that the SEC is thinking that they will not be able to pick off any ACC schools to balance out WVU in the East, second, the SEC is thinking that only westward expansion is possible at this point. Missouri would be #14 - who's next? TCU? KU? Tech? OU?

Rumors get stronger that ND might be listening to the ACC. ND moving to the ACC, coupled with the Pitt and Syracuse defections already, seems to suggest that the Big Ten might be getting boxed in. Does the Big Ten stand pat at 12? Should they desire to expand, where would they go?

I can actually see the situation that LS and the Pac-12 offices might be concerned about. If they hold off, would it be possible that the Pac-12 be left with nothing but dregs left?

ACC denying WVU makes a lot more sense than the SEC.

Edit: And give Jens a break... WV USED to be part of Virgina

The closer we get to the endgame (4x16), the more desperate the scramble (by both teams and conferences) for the last few chairs.

In all seriousness, WVU is a LOT closer to the PA side of WV and the Pittsburgh Market than it is to any of the major population centers in Virginia. My bet is that the ACC isn't willing to compromise on academics and they don't really bring anything to the table for the SEC; I could be wrong but I don't think they deliver any new major markets for the SEC (maybe Pittsburgh?) and the stadium only holds 60,000.
