My Breaking Point

Oh, so you guys are in an internet FRAT? Right?

Yeah, but our dues are only $15/year and being a member doesn't supply us date-rape victims. We still have to do that work on our own.

This entire thread was started because a Goose defended a Duck. Suspicious?

Yeah, cause you guys are usually totally cool with new posters. Very welcoming overall, past the samwhich bit. Totally.

In your experience, what did not happen when you were a new poster that you felt should have happened?

Well, I'm certainly sorry if you, or other new posters didn't feel more welcome. Beyond that, I don't know what to say.

I make it a point to be the first to rep a new poster, if they post something worthwhile. Don't make assumptions that make you look stupid.

If someone says something stupid I will call them out whether they are new or old. The only difference is that the old poster knows I am an asshole so they can handle it better than a new person who thinks they are getting bullied.

So the problem is with the new people not lurking enough, or not being tough enough. It is on them to integrate in, not us.

It was never at that point for me. I've been apart of all the boards for a long time. So, I always thought it'd be weird to do the whole introductory thing here.

But I've seen the hazing portion that goes for anyone that needs to get any traction on the board. Nothing wrong with it really, it's the response, or lack thereof that sucks. Regardless of what happens, there's a bakers dozen of posters here who think they're cooler than school, and regardless of what you have to post, it's more about how you pay homage to the cool guys on the board. Then you might get the right to post more than a paragraph.

You can post, sure, but to get responded to is the question.

You're invited to provide examples. Specifically of my behavior.

Wait, you have a problem with the first post of that thread or the entire thread? Or specific posts within it?

I thought what I linked was a enough. But I can run both of you all day if you want. Don't think I just wandered over here for fun. I'll talk **** to the both of you all day every day if you can handle it!

Oh wait, I'm new the to the internet...tell me how it works...I mean, seems weird you guys were the only guys here...if you guys run the show here, let me know who's king?!

Okay, I'll go.

I've beaten up on a couple of new posters. BB2. He strung together about 30+ consecutive posts in which he described how much Greg Brown sucks, but never in a new way. It was repetitive without substance. So I called him out. He's now gone on to listing things without much insight or substance, but I don't beat him up as much, because he's at least trying a little.

On his 15th post on this site Aeroxx called out Buff fans for calling each other names. Okay, you're the new guy on an established site. Maybe you should try to assimilate a little before pointing fingers. And maybe that's the attitude that frustrates you, but I don't think it's unreasonable to ask folks to understand an existing dynamic before accusing anybody of anything. Okay, so guilty but not apologetic on that one.

pabuff similarly arrived, told everybody to stay focused on topic and casually dropped that he doesn't have time to sort through our banter because he has very important meetings to attend. Again, I'm guilty of piling on, but remain unapologetic.

But if a poster shows up, tries to contribute to the dialogue without being judgmental, he/she gets love from nearly everybody but Rugged, and he can't help himself.

And I back to an earlier point. If new folks don't like the banter, then maybe this isn't a great site for them to frequent. In your opinion should Allbuffs change its character to accommodate anybody who has an interest in CU athletics?

You linked a thread with 139 posts so no, I still don't know what exactly you are trying to say. I'm fine talking ****, but you're going to have to communicate better.
