Official Bowl Games Thread

the 28 point differential between nd and bama in the bcs ccg is the benchmark here

exactly. dabo has a good team. nd as usual with their dog **** schedule is unworthy of a 4 team playoff. go to 8 teams and let's start seeing some real games. i hate the irish.
No reason for eight. Lopsided semis, again, hurt expansion proponents and their arguments.

having alabama clemson there every year is getting ridiculous .. especially as clemson and alabama getting there every year has a knock on effect not only in recruiting, but also with them continuously getting the benefit of the doubt. due to their recent success alabama and clemson both will always get the benefit of the doubt over other teams if theres an argument to be made.

9 conference games should also be made mandatory or the other conferences should go back to an 8 game conference schedule if the sec and acc wont budge there.

The committee needs better judgement, why not UCF? Just because ND is unbeaten does not make them a worthy playoff team.

I guess they ruled forward progress on that one otherwise that was clearly a fumble and a Clemson recovery
Only thing it could be. I was gonna actually compliment the refs, think they've been really good in this one. I think they missed that one though.

i used to like the 4 spots 5 conferences concept but the 8 v 9 conference games dispute and nd being part of the club despite refusing to commit to it thing makes a mockery of it. 8 teams please.

Eh, could actually help the argument a bit. Using the projected 8 team model for this year, Notre Dame gets blown out by Georgia which leads to a more competitive semifinal (most likely) and ensures that an unworthy team isn’t playing in the semis.

Presidents and ADs must not think so, at least at the moment.
Perhaps Presidents think that. I'd be surprised if that was the general sentiment for AD's though - unless you've seen a study or something. I can't imagine any AD in the PAC-12 happy about the current playoff system. The B12 AD's either.

At least with 8, it gives the committee a better chance to have the best 4 teams in the playoff. Based on ND's performance, I'd rather see U-dub, or tOSU in there.

College football has never been further away from parity than it is today.

And the playoff has just elevated two programs in particular into a different stratosphere. Their recent success helps them in recruiting, to further cement the status quo, and also ensures they get the benefit of the doubt when there’s an argument.

I’ve seen it in football with the Champions League and the very same thing is happening here.

Problem is a playoff expansion may just expand the club of the selected few and further cement the stranglehold of OU, Clemson, UGA, Alabama and Ohio State as the bubble teams are now unlikely to miss out.
